Does anyone here subscribe to this magazine? Are they for real? I sent them a new subscription notice in March, paid via credit card in March & have never received anything. They don't answer their phones or return calls.

Do they really exist?

Try doing a search... there are a ton of complaints about them. I paid and never got mine.

I was suppose to get a copy and never received one. I know it must be hard to run a magazine but not sure with these guys (or gals).

The editor is a member of this board.
As any "start-up" magazine goes, they have had a few hitches but he will make good.

That is, from what I recall.

Oh yeah, I think it is a bi-monthly publication.

I think that's the key - they haven't had a new issue since the first non-glossy issue with the 356 on the cover, though they are about due. If I remember correctly, the upcoming issue focuses on the 944 and will have Guards Red one on the cover. Brian Minson (publisher, editor, chief cook and bottle washer for 9) made a post yesterday on the 928 forum so he's still around.

I've subscribed since the beginning. I get an issue "about" every two months. What I like is the magazine's focus on repair/maintenance issues. Like any start-up it may take time for them to get all the kinks out but so far I've been satisfied.

My most recent issue is Volume 3, Number 1. It's the "Early 911 Buyers Guide" issue.

IMHO taking people's money and then not delivering is known as theft. And mail fraud. Why are you guys so nice to this Brian Minson guy? He sounds like he should probably be in jail.

Oh richard, he's not a thief. Major disorganization me thinks, but I sincerely think he's trying.

I stopped subscribing. I could read the whole thing in 15 minutes. Some would say that's slow. IMO, Minson needs to get serious about the DIY articles or make it a feature mag displaying people's cars and THIER story. The DIY stuff is way too shallow.

The trouble is... It's tough to compete with websites like Pelican. Why haven't I started a DIY magazine? Because it would just be like printing the tech articles on the site. I'd be limited to B&W, I'd be limited to page counts, and it would take me so much longer to publish the stuff.

To me, it just doesn't make too much sense anymore...

Joe,

Called your office today and left a voice mail, and sent you an email. You are on the computer and shows paid until 2005.

I have Vol 3 No 1 and Vol 3 No 2 on their way today to you.

V9ff,

If you send me your name and mailing address I will look into why you haven't received an issue as of yet.

Thanks for those who backed me up until I could get to this post. Since the switch to the non-gloss paper, subscriptions are up. We must be doing something right! Thanks!

Bringing up an old post.

I've got the same problem. Subscribed in May, 2004. Haven't seen a thing.

Contacted Paypal, they tell me it's past 30 days case closed. They advise me to work it out with the vendor.

Paypal did send Brian an email of me complaining, he wrote back asking me what the problem was.

I write back telling him I sent three, now four emails that I would like to know whats happening with my subscription.

Haven't seen or heard anything since.

The only other option was posting the problem in the public.

Seemed to have worked before.

Send Brian a reminder. I don't really think he's trying to rip anyone off. He's just got alot going on, and hasn't gotten in the groove yet. I subscribed while at Hershey, and didn't get my first issue, or CD of previous issues for a while so I emailed him. Got both within a week. He just needs a reminder from you, that's all.

Brian Minson was at the GAF today passing out free issues. He seems to be working at getting the thing to work, but I have to agree that the business end of the mag is not working. That said, I did not renew and they stopped sending it. Some mags keep sending either because they are as bad in the subscription dept or they hope you will reconsider.

Many mags stop at the proof and turn printing and distribution over to printing houses that specialize in just that phase. The publisher has to turn over starts and stops right away and monitior the data base. I don't think 9 Magazine has learned that yet.

I was one of the folks that complained in an earlier thread about no sample issue. Afterwards I did get one. I liked it enough to give it a try and support a fledgling magazine. I have since received the issues without any problems. In fact, I got an email not too long ago from Brian, about extending my subscription. If I did, I would get the CD of all of the back issues to date. I extended my subscription and shortly there after received the CD. The CD even works on my Mac! Thanks Brian.

I too believe he is trying and will make it right to those that let him know there has been a problem.
