Will an 87-89 3.2 bolt right up to a 915?
Having recently cratered the 3.2 engine in my '86 Carrera, I'm in the market for a good used 3.2. My question is, can I safely look for any engine between 84-89? Or, will there be some sort of retrofit necessary for an 87-89 3.2 designed to fit the G50 if I want to run a 915?
I will be using my own 915 tranny which I just had rebuilt only a couple weeks ago... Thanks! Dean

I have an '89 motor on my '86 (915). The motors are the same, just the flywheels are different. If you put an '87-89 motor in you '86 you will want to adjust the base idle to match your pre-87 DME.

When installing marcesq's 3.2 into his 77 911 we found that the mounting studs were longer for a 3.2 equipped with a G50. We had to pull the studs from his 2.7 and install them on the new 3.2, in order to attach the 915.

Yes, Justin is right. Don't forget those case-tranny studs. You can just double-nut them in and out. I think Marc had to dremel part of his bell housing to accept the sensors, but that should be a non-issue on a 915 that already had a DME 3.2 on it.
