Talking Ultimate and financially feasable suspension

Okay, So I've been bugging everybody about different upgrades lately and now i'm at it again.

I'm looking at putting an 80 Targa together (interior, engine, paint/body work) and I'm on the step of calculating the cost of some solid suspension upgrades.

Let me tell you what i'm thinking about and maybe someone (or everyone) will be able to make some suggestions and or point me in the correct direction.

- upgrade shocks front and rear (unsure of brand)
- increase front and rear torsion bar stiffness (i'd like to go hollow)
- upgrade front and rear sway bars and links
- front and rear monoball (these okay for street use?)
- adjustable rear spring plates
- Harness brace (or perhaps roll bar, any opinions?)
- front strut brace (to triangulate or not to triangulate?)
- new bushings all around (anybody sell a good kit?)
- turbo tie rods (not much for choice here )

I've got a decent budget to work with but still would like to stay within reason (coilovers out of the question). The car will be used 80% street 20% track but I tend to like to push it a little and don't mind a rougher than usual ride (especially if she talks dirty!

Again, I'm pretty much looking for suggestions on size (swaybars and such) and brand (weltmeister, elephant etc.) Also, I'd like to buy all from one supplier in the hopes of working out a decent deal if at all possible (Wayne, you offer these kinda deals? ) And yes, I'd like to buy from Pelican but just don't want to limit myself.

Thanks again, and hopefully next time you hear from me I'll be checking on brakes i'm sure.

Adam

While I do not pretend to be an expert, I would suggest you contact several of the shops that specialize in setting up competitive cars. For me, I would go down the street to Rennsport Systems but thee may be someone closer to you that will give you the opportunity for face to face conversation.

As you are probably aware, the suspension of a car is a system and if you change one component, others need to be changed/adjusted as well to have it work at it's best.

Good luck to you.

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. Thats actually part of my problem. There are SOOOO few shops up here that work on Porsche (never mind specialize in them) that here (this BBS since forever now) is one of, if not, the best source I have.

Thanks for the bid of good luck, I'm almost positive I'll need all that I can get!

Chuck Moreland at Elephant Racing could probably advise you pretty well. I'd also second the suggestion that you talk to Steve Weiner at Rennsport Systems. Either of them could help you without having to be in the same city.
