Correct finish for 9 x 15" Fuchs?
I picked up that set of 8 and 9 x 15 Fuchs recently and want to return them to standard finish. What is the correct finish for a 2.8 RSR or 3.0 RS?
Should the rims be anodised and the lip polished? Should the petals be polished, anodised or painted? |

Nick,
I have seen them both ways; with paddles and outer lip polished....and with just outer lip polished. I'm relatively certain that all the RSR's were delivered with only the outer lip polished. Many privateers painted or polished the paddles to fit their own sense of style. Here's a shot (courtesy of Pelican) that I think is pretty friggin' close to how they should be. Cheers, Chris

Nick,
The original 15 IROC cars purchased by Roger Penske had the finish as pictured above, as did the '73 RSR tested by Road & Track magazine ... it seems rather likely that most RSR's came that way from the factory, unless for a high-dollar client like the Martini team, which may have specified a different finish for the wheels.
