Who owns the last of the SC?
Oaky all you guys who want to own the first SC.
How about who owns the last SC? I'll start off with my serial number - XXXXXX305. Let's hear from you late 1983 911SC guys. |
Actually, after losing my precious 1980 SC to a fire. I bought a 1989 C4 which I plan to convert to an SC replica. Would that count?
|
i bet its a cab.
|
Not me. Mine's right smack in the middle. Well, slightly north.
|
On a related note: Who has the last "911"?
In other words, pre 964. That would carry some mighty bragging rights. |
I think mine's sorta late...
build date: april 1983 VIN: XXXXXXXXXXX101083 EDIT: Went to check on the car for the first time in 3 weeks just now and my whole car cover is covered in ash from the fires we've been having here....any idea on how to wash / clean it? It's made by California Car Cover company and is a material called "NOAH". |
Jerry? Just a guess.

THread Hijack! Thread Hijack! Thread Highjack!
Guys, we are not talking about the last air-cooled, but rather the last 911SC. For those who might not know, 1983 was the last year for the 9121SC; after that they were call 911 Carerras. And the 993 is the last air-cooled ever. So, once again my serial number is XXXXXDSI20305 for a 1983 991SC. Who has something later? P.S. Jerry Seinfeld has the very last 993 (hence last air-cooled) ever built. He was smart enough to ask the factory for the very, very, very last one, and they accommodated him with a beautiful dark blue coupe, NOT CAB (sorry you Cab guys). And he picked uit up at the factory. P.P.S. I don't think that Jay Leno owns any Porsches. I've been inside his warehouse in Burbank, and the sweetest car I saw was a BMW 308 (or something like that model number), which was a 1940's type BMW two-seater cabriolet. |

Amir, sent you a PM regarding car cover.

Andras,
A BMW 507? Sweet! Inspiration for the Z8 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1067546585.jpg |
Mine was built in Mar '83, Ser # XXXXXDS170670
|
So am I to understand that fully 17% of the ENTIRE 911 production run was the 993? And that 8% of the entire run was the 993 turbo?
I don't buy it. |
I think my 83 is going to be right up there (July 1983) built date
XXXXXS122547 The case has the single oil drain plug. |

"Since 1963, a total of 401,232 air cooled cars have been produced. The last model which was internally assigned to the development number "993", was built 69,137 times in the Zufferhausen works; of these 6,418 were Turbo models. The powerful turbo version was purchased by 32,335 customers from 1997 to March 1998." I am not sure how 32,335 people could have bought one of the 6,418 993TTs made. I presume they mean that over the entire 911 air cooled run that there were 32,335 911 Turbos made. |
Let's see I think it was built in june or july ***********122450 or 97units before
George's car. Jt |
So far Georgie is up front!!!
|
DS120107
July '82 My engine case has some ugliness on top, due to the forms wearing out. It has the drain plug. I suspect mine was one of the last of the the "SC" engine cases. |
Sorry guys, but I don't think the last one is on this board...I believe the SCRS built in '84:
http://www.porsche.ru/porsches/911scrs.htm 280hp @7K? How cool must that car be.. Although this page indicates '83: http://users.compaqnet.be/skyimages/porsche2/p911/SCRS/911scRS.html |
April '83 SC Cab here. XXXXXXXXXDS170896.
George, are you first for being last? |

That is a strange thing, April car with a later number than July.
Does your car have a single oil drain plug in the case? |
What's the deal with the single oil drain plug? What else would there be? I thought all SCs have a single oil drain plug in the case. My 81 has the oil drain plug in the sump cover. Is this the one everyone's talking about?
|
No I am not talking about having a drain plug in the sump cover.
My late 83 has no sump cover, just a single bolt to the side of the case. |
Quote:
So far, I'm your runner up at 122505, with the later style case sans sump plate. :D |
Why did they do away with the sump cover? Is the sump pickup still there, and what about the screen?????

My VIN is WPOZZZ91ZDS140619
the car was first registered in January '83. I am sure the car must have been bulit in '82. How can I know the date of manufacture? |
Mine was manufactured 10/82 VIN ************0665. On the early side for an '83 but I since 0670 and 0619 are posting here it's kinda cool that our cars were likely built in the same week or so. Oddly, my cert. of Auth. doesn't show a record of date of manufacture.
|
Mine was 1st registered in August 82. Like Paco says, how do you tell the build date?
|
The built date is on the drivers side, inside the door jam just above where the lock engages, there should be a factory sticker there,
