Deleting front plate

Somebody today posted some photos of a nicely lowered 911 and said he had decided to take off his front (California) plates and the hell with it, accept the occasional ticket. Any New Yorkers out there who know what the penalty is in our maxi-state, and how likely one is to get stopped? As it is, my front plate, on the air dam of a Euro-lowered SC, is already less than a foot off the ground and pointing down toward it at about a 45-degree angle. And when the damn EZ-Pass malfunctions on the Garden State, it's always the back plate that they photograph when they send me the ridiculous ticket...

Stephan

Try posting over on PPBB - I know plateless Boxsters are all the vogue. I'm sure somebody over there could tell you exactly how much a NY no-plate fee is.

It can't be much different from Ohio. I got pulled over on the way up to Mid-Ohio for a DE event in April and it cost about $90. A small price to pay in my opinion.

However, now that I live in PA, no front plate is required.

BTW, I have also gotten out of a front plate ticket with the Audi by saying that I had just waxed the car and lost the bolts to put the plate back on.

Good luck,

Noel

LOL, Noel!!

Or how about:

"Gee, officer, I took the plate off to clean it, and my dog ate the bolts!"

Good one Ron, I doubt I could pull it off though. I would be laughing too hard.

In MA the fine used to be $50 and they do stop you for no plate. But I bet if you have no plate and are *****faced they won't stop you

I just run with the plate because I don't need any more reasons to be stopped

this dam car is a target.
If it's a bs stop then you gotta entertain him somehow..

Have a good attitude and talk about the bait you gotta go buy now for tommorrow's shark'en.. and how pissed off your bride is gonna be at you because now she'll be complaining about the 911 smelling like it's low tide for a month.

Nice Doug,,, how long did it take you to trace that quote?

You wanna hear a dam shame of a plate story? Pull up a chair it goes like this.... The dumb ass I bought my garage Queen 911 from only had the back original plate on the car when he got it. This is an original 78 blue with yellow letters old school unit. He bought the car from the original owner that had stashed the front plate all safe under the passanger seat, only Mr. Second Owner never knew. So he proceeds to the DMV in 1999 to get a new set of plates issued so he could run the front.

He trades in the old school blue for a new set of reflective white pair. I love the car when I find it, wish for just a second for the original plates, so I ask. He tells me the DMV trip for new plates story.

I ache all over and find the stashed "old blue" under the co-piolet seat the 1st time I bathed her.

I got pulled over for speeding a few years ago and rather than write me a speeding ticket, the officer wrote me a ticket for no front license plate (a non-moving violation). If I had a front plate I suspect I would have gotten the speeding ticket. Not that this would happen every time, but it's another way to justify removing the front plate.

Cool

You'ell love this one.

The state of Missouri is in really bad financial shape. Like what's new?

It started with the Governor's celebration election ball which broke the bank and went down from there.

Anyhow the legislature has strectched out the licensing of cars to two year periods. The car inspections last for 6mos however if your car is and odd year and you are licensing it during and even year, it is exempt from inspection. Also vise versa.

Now the legislature is considering dropping the front plate as a cost cutting measure! I just luv em!

I thought that more states went to front plates in the past few years because of photo ticket [driver/owner] proof and laser cops having a great target.. I remove the front plate when outta state for those reasons.........Ron
