windshielf washer malfunction
After filling the windshield washer via the hole next to the gas tank on the left fender, I pulled back the wiper lever on the steering wheel to wash the windows and only a tiny squirt came out of one of the holes on the driver side, nothing came out of the passenger side squirter. Anyone else run into this problem?
thanks- Matt |

Check the two valves up under the windshield, one is "L" shaped, one is "T" shaped. They are about $3 each. They commonly get old, cruddy and need replacing. You can also remove, disassemble, clean, and reinstall the pump.

It is reallly hard to get at the "T" valve and "L" valve under there. I replaced mine but first got good results by unhooking the feed from the pump and giving some blasts with air hose. When I eventually did replace I did an autopsy on the T valve..absolutely full of particulate and gritty stuff. I eventaually am gonna pull the tank out and really clean it good.

I had the same issue on my 88. I replace the valves which were very cheap but it is somewhat difficult to remove. It helps to have some small tools. I also found that it can take a surprisingly long time to get cleaning fluid to the passenger side cleaner after the lines have been empited.
