Carb rebuild mystery
I am rebuilding my Zenith's for the first time today. I took it all apart , leaving the throttle shafts as per the 101 manual. Everything looks pretty good, except one thing. There are three hollow tubes running through each throat. One tube, ( on the carb I could never seem to balance with the others) has been cutoff to 2\3 original length by some PO. Maybe the top 3rd has been broken during a previous rebuild?
Does this mean I need that new part, or does that top third not really serve any great purpose? Also, how do I get these tubes out of the carbs? Looks like you could just tap it out from the other side??/?? Thanks in advance.... Michael

Those are the Pre-atomizers, I believe. They are held in with retaining clips and if they have been in there awhile, varnish. Use carb cleaner to remove the varnish, remove the clips using hemostats or equiv. and if still stuck press out from the other side. Venturis can come out , as well.
