MM???
Perhaps ther better question should be...
Are there any reputable shops in Orlando to do the following kind of work? I could certainly recommend a few here in Denver. |
Lots of people say, "You'll never get the straight story..." or "Some people love MM..." or "Depends who you talk to..." but form reading these (and endless earlier threads), even the posts of the most ardent MM supporters would convince me I don't ever want to go NEAR these people. You've done your job, guys. Equivocation is its own answer...

Not many people or shops. They all rust out before they get to collector status. |
It's all about trust. You can't stand there and watch and check the specs on every part that goes into a rebuild. You can't double check every machining operation. You have to "trust" the people rebuilding your engine.
So, who you gonna call? Good luck! Jens |
I think someone ought to check with the Calif. Consumer Protection agency to see what complaints have been filed against MM. It may give personal psychic release to vent on the Bd. but if you really want to perform a public service you will complain to the state. That will generate a nice big file and put unscupulous businesses out of business where they can no longer harm the public. That business will then go to good businesses, so you are helping them too. All the good people benefit, and it takes little time.

Actually it would the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Check the archives....I posted an excerpt of the violations that were listed against MM....since they paid the fines, access to that information is now only available via an official request citing the CA Public Records Act.

I agree, report them to the BAR and the BBB; just be prepared for the BBB to do very little if anything and prepare for the BAR to tell you there is nothing illegal (in CA at least) about shoddy engine rebuilds, i.e. there are no codified standards for engines . . . but there are for transmissions.
I went every route except suing them. It was ultimately my fault for sending my car to MM. This forum and others like it are still the best route to keep other folks from getting their clocks cleaned. FWIW, I am not venting, just continuing my efforts to save anyone else the time, money and trouble they might waste in risky rebuilding endeavors with the wrong business. Best, Kurt |
"Does anyone have a reputation anywhere near MM?"
Yes, OFI. See the other thread of the day on them. I recommend the same actions for them. BTW, many people will check the BBB and Cons. agencies first -- not all 911 owners know of this board. |
Don't forget about these guys either.
