odd hesitation in 964

Hey everyone,
I don't normally try to accelerate that hard in first gear, but I noticed something a little strange today. Whenever I start the car ('92 C2) first thing in the morning, it likes to hesitate until it gets warm. It'll even do a little bit of surging if you give it too much gas when it's too cold. I've spoken to a lot of 911 owners around my shop though and they all say this is fairly normal.
What I found odd was that today I tried to accelerate really hard from a stop and the engine was warm, I'd been driving for about 25 minutes. In first, it doesn't seem to matter how much gas you're giving it below 3500RPMs it just doesn't want to accelerate, you can almost feel it hesitating, but not quite. As soon as it hits 4000RPMs it just slams you back in your seat though. 2nd and 3rd don't seem to do this though, the more gas you give it the faster it accelerates through the entire RPM range. I don't know if this has to do with the gear ratios in a 964 or what, but it just struck me as a little odd... lol, I have nothing better to do than worry about my car after midnight and I can't ask my mechanic for another 7 hours...
Anyway, if anyone thinks this is normal or strange let me know.

Thanks,
Andrew

I think it is odd. Your car shouldn't hesitate in any gear. And why don't you accelerate hard in first gear?

honestly I just don't drive the car that hard when I'm not on the track, especially since it's a daily driver. Plus I was told that since 964s have the dual mass flywheel, the easiest way to screw those up is to accelerate hard in first.
If the problem occured in all gears I'd assume I had a problem with the fuel injectors or something, but it only does it in first, so I'm at a loss as to why it's occuring.

Oh I see. I don't really know anything about the Motronic system. It doesn't sound like it should do that. Do you have a book on the Motronic system? Maybe someone else will chime in.
Good luck
