Abnormal Clutch

My car is an 86 930 with 19 thousand miles. The problem started out about two weeks ago when I noticed that it was becomming a little more difficult to shift through the gears on my date with my wife. On the way home I really got on it hard through first and when attempting to reach second it was impossible. I ended up pulling off the highway and finally was able to continue. At home when trying to get to reverse the gears just ground and was unable to get reverse without hitting first or second. I have been searching this behavior and have found some articles on this BB that really fit. I have also read my manuels and have attempted to adjust the clutch. I seem to have some adjustment left on the clutch as I can obtain the 1mil clearence with no problem. I have also adjusted the cable up one side and down the other with no positive results. My question is can my clutch be gone with less than 20k miles and can anyone think of anything else I might try to remedy this situation. Thanks

Unsure, but is there any possibility that the pin holding the clutch pedal in the rack is starting to shear? I have an SC and so can't say if you are using a pedal rack like my own.

It sounds like whatever it is it's causing your clutch to not full disengage, therefore making shifting kind of hard and would explain your reverse issue too (the only gear that doesn't have a syncro).

Did the '86 930 have a rubber-centered clutch disk? Those things might give up at about 19k miles. If they do, the rubber pieces get wedged between the disk and the metal surfaces, causing the symptoms you described.

I hope it does't have the rubber center. I am going to remove the floorboard and check out the cluster. Could it somehow be the clutch cable that is involved? Thanks

i would check the roll-pin that holds the pedal to it's shaft. is the pedal forward from where it normally sits? the pedals can also bend and eventually break.

Could it be the clutch throwout fork bending?

The clutch is forward a little from its normal position. I will check that pin as I now have the complete floorboard out. Thanks
