Placement of Stereo Speakers
Okay, I have the nice big single speaker in the center of the dash that was great when the am/fm ruled the day and you had to get creative with where to put the 8-track or set the "reverberator" (remember those?).
Well, the guy who owned before me it before me mounted two 4-inch polks in the rear (on the side panels below the windows, but as I peer around the front, I see no place to set up two front speakers. Keep in mind this is the 73 door and the door window crank handle kills a large potential area. Add to that the knee level AC vents limits speakers under that location. Forget about the wheel wells, the pockets cannot support speakers, or they would easily get kicked off! Door map pockets extend out too far from the door as well. Where oh where to mount 3-5" front speakers?! Any ideas? Regards Bob 73.5T

I think you can mount them in the door but you have to be a little creative. Plus i believe a low profile grill or none at all is need to keep you knuckles from smacking against them.

You can put them in the doors(a hole is already there) but the map pockets get in the way. I don't like the way they look. What I am doing is putting two 3" speakers in the front grill. A car stero place here makes an adapter that fits in the grill space but has two speaker holes for the speakers. Of course if you want them to hear you from a mile away that solution is no good.
