Pelican Parts Hats Off to Pelican Parts Veterans!!!

From Eli, my General Manager:

Veteran’s Day

Originally called Armistice Day, this holiday was established to honor Americans who had served in World War I. It falls on November 11, the day when that war ended in 1918, but it now honors veterans of all wars in which the United States has fought.
Veterans' organizations hold parades or other special ceremonies, and the president customarily places a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery, across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C.

On this Day it is with great pride that I can recognize our company Veterans:

Its often very often that I hear citizens of this fine nation speak of how proud they are of the United States of America but it is rare when you hear of those who actually “stood up” and stepped forward to assist. Each man and woman who has stood up has dedicated a portion of their lives in the fight for freedom both Domestic and Foreign. The pay is low, the hours are very long, and the conditions at times are less than bearable but these men and women have make this sacrifice so that the rest of the world can look forward to a brighter day. These men and women at one point in their lives were willing to put it all on the line for this great nation, these men and women as United States Veterans….

In my family it has always been somewhat of a tradition. We have served almost every major war or conflict to date. From my Grandfather, Uncles, Father, Brother and myself we’ve been proud to serve under this great nation.

I speak for everyone here at Pelican Parts from the top to the bottom when I say “Thank you all who appreciate a soldier” for their sacrifices and the sacrifices of their brothers and sisters who never made it back and who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us all.

Cool Thanks for Remembering....

A great big THANK YOU to all the men and women currently serving in the United States armed services! And a thank you to our hosts here at PelicanParts for remembering those of us who had the priviledge of serving earlier. As a Vietnam era Navy SeaBee I got to go places, see things and build "stuff" to support you other guys. It was a chance to see the world and develop into a person who loves his country and respects the rights of others. Constructimus, Battimus (We Build, We Fight!).

I was born in Okinawa in 1970 as my dad was a doc at Kadena Air Base (and Takhli . Grandfather died a Major General in AF (retired) 56 years to the DAY he was shot down piloting a B-24 over Germany. I couldn't be more proud of them every Vet's day. Damn is that a good video.

Thanks to all who have served before us, and those who are courageously serving today. Godspeed to all those currently deployed and away from their families tonight. ...And as this board has a large contingent of international members, lets not forget to recognize the brave men and women from our allied friends serving shoulder to shoulder with our troops.

My dad served as a corpsman in the Navy during WWII. He joined at 16, and saw service in the Pacific. Since he was tall (6'1") and fast, he was a "runner"...the guy with the one-man stretcher who went out to pull guys from the field. He never really talked about the war. I think he saw some pretty horrific stuff between land battles and kamikaze attacks on ship.

Thanks to all who have served.
