3.6 Conversion Update

Starting to get close. I ‘m planning on the install either the weekend before or the weekend after Thanksgiving.

I still need to get the engine tin from the powder coaters. I replaced the left and front left pieces. The only modification required was to the two front pieces to clear the B&B heat exchanger outlets.

Not much else to say so here are a couple pictures.

What a transformation! That looks awesome.

nostatic 11-10-2003 09:08 PM

holy crap

sure you don't want to install my kitchen table in your car instead? I'd rather eat off your engine...

Jack Olsen 11-10-2003 10:53 PM

My first thought was, he's made it look like a brand new engine. But actually, it's cleaner than a brand new engine.

Sweet!

That's simply beautiful!

It inspires wood.

Kurt

When should I send mine over? ;)

Alan.UK 11-11-2003 12:07 AM

I was potentially planning on selling my 3.6 but after seeing that maybe I should keep it. Looks great !!

Congrats

Looks awesome!! If you need it, I have the "Timmins Vent Kit" for the distributor. PM me an address and I'll send it.

Very impressive work! I'm looking forward to your next update.

Wow--that looks fantastic! Which parts are powder coated and which were just cleaned off? Any cleaning tips for us dirty engine guys?

ChrisBennet 11-11-2003 04:09 AM

Looks great! In the "before" picture are the chain box covers plastic or just really dirty?

Great Work Ryan! Looks FRIGGGGGGEN AWSOME
Is the K&N in there for that non-cluttered look/easier access?
I'm thinking of doing mine

Nice cleaning job! Wish mine was still that clean.

Why is the power steering pump still there?

Why did you mount the vacuum canister there instead of out of the way under the air flow sensor?

Nice Ryan. I second the dist vent kit. Let me know about the install date.

surflvr911sc 11-11-2003 08:51 AM

Thanks guys! I'll post early next week on the install date.

I have the factory distributor vent kit, I’m just waiting to install it until the tin is on and I can install Thom’s RS heater tube.

Bill, that is the factory power steering block-off that Harald sent me w/ the engine. I have no idea why it’s so big, the PMS block-off is much cleaner but hey, it’s a stock SC. ;)

The Vacuum canister just seemed to go there but I love the way you hid it in the back. What did you mount it to?

Where is the sheet metal????

Ooops, sorry to put salt into the wounds but you should really put some pressure on your guy to get it done.

Nice job cleaning the motor. What a shame that it'll be exposed to the elements. Mine was pretty clean when I went over it. But now blends in more and more with the overall look of my Targa: Dusty and oily.

Once you are done it's time for me to start the oil leak beatification project on mine. Mike's garage is almost done.....

is

Brian,

BTW: Your AFM is upside down. I made the same mistake when I first put mine together for some nice pictures. Mine was rotated 90 degress.

Rotate yours exaclty 180 degrees. The connector points to the firewall. The black plastic cap points up. If you have the stock airbox it'll be obvious how to orientate it.
