Here is my 1978 chrome trimmed Targa with s/s Targa bar. It now sports Euro H4 assemblies.

Hey Don,
We Sat at the same table at the resturant in Malibu.
Funny that you should be thinking SC. I've been looking at earlier 911's and may go there but I agree with your statement that SC's bring a lot to the table.

Hey FarleyD,

What color is your '78SC? I was thinking of going chrome on my copper brown '79 Targa but didn't know how it would look. Your car's paint looks like mine.

Bob! My man! How are you? To my right or straight across?

I have to admit. When I go to these Porsche functions, my mind gets goofy and I just gawk at the cars and miss things like introductions......names......Jenifer Aniston bumping into my chair, etc. You know, the usual stuff.
We had a great trip and hope to be back early next year.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. SCs are great cars and if it were not for the emissions thing, I might give a little more love that way. However, I love the early stuff ridiculously. For instance, at the Phoenix Flight show.... I ended up talking with the owner of this beautiful 71T for close to an hour. I essentially 'glanced at' so many other cars that had SO much more history and were much more special. Why is that? I think its just an illness.

We'll see.

So, all you guys with the early cars and black trim -- How did you get the trim black? Is it just painted, or did you get it finished some other way? (was black an option before the SC's?) I have an SC with black trim (which I want to keep) but I would love to fit the rear wing windows. I would want the trim to reasonably match the look of the rest of my trim. I saw an early car with black trim, but it was painted and wouldn't look too good next to the anodized trim.

Dan

Don,
I almost said in my reply where I was sitting but thought I would test you, And you passed.

I'm not as interesting as 911's but Jenifer Aniston? Hmmmm, Oh yeah you were facing the wrong direction. And she probable isn't as interesting anyway but she did have nice? Hmmm, Headlights.
I think they where H1's, nice and bright.

I was to your right, and HughR was straight across from you. I'm not sure who the other guy was but I think he has a black 911 with big wheels on it and posts here once in a while.

Bob Flat-Six, the car is effectively Copper Brown Metallic. I am getting used to it, alwaus wanted a blue one, but that one was a good buy at 9K. Pics of yours?

Here's a pic, Farley
It's an 80 and has the slightly faded black anodized window trim.

And Don, If your set on the early years don't make sacrifices get an early 911. Try to dial it in as close as you can to the dream

An exception to this would be to get a 911 ride until you can make the more expensive 911 happen.

chrome trim SC

Here's my 78SC Copper Brown Metallic with chrome trim. I love the look of the SC with chrome. Very old school, but in a relatively modern package.

Porsche Crest

That red coupe really needs the black trim!

Is there anyone else who wants to trade my chrome trim for their black? I'm game.

just fyi, the chrome pop out quarter windows on the early cars do not easily fit in to the later openings. The "B" pillars need to be slotted and a nutsert put in to hold the leading edge of the window.
