Tires for my '73 911T

O.K. everyone, I'm new new to Porsche ownership and new to this site so be nice even though I'm sure you've read these questions a million times before! As the proud new owner of a completely stock 1973 911T I need to know what size, brand, model and inflation because baby needs a new set of shoes! Due to her vintage and condition, track work is out of the question but spirited spring-summer-fall driving as well as some on-road rallies are definitely on our horizon. I am willing to sacrifice noise and comfort for performance but I dont want to put aftermarket wheels on or roll fenders or anything like that. If it rains she gets parked or at least driven VERY conservatively. So, tell me what you think and thanks in advance for your suggestions!

What size rims are on it now? Are you willing to buy new wheels?

I put Dunlop Sport 9000's on my '74 (205/50/15 front and 215/50/15 rear) and I love them! Wet and dry traction is great, but do not use them for winter driving if you'll encounter snow!

Stock is 185/70 - 15 on 6 x 15" rims.

I have two '73s on the road at the moment, and I had to put new tires on one. I chose 205/55 - 15. That's roughly the same rolling radius, and the tire has a 'right' look to it.

Oh, and I picked Yoko AVS. Pricier tires that you'll like include Dunlop SP Sport 9000, Yoko A022 and Bridgestone S-03s. A cheap, quick wearing but high performance alternative is the Kumho Ecsta 712.

Thanks for all the kind replies...I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as I get more familiar with the car! As for now the wheels are the stock equipped 15 inchers and I'm guessing that they are 5.5 or 6 inches wide. My plan is to keep the car totally stock with the only exceptions being the fitment of factory options that would have been available on the car when it was new (I know that pretty much all of the "S" equipment could be ordered for the "T" excluding the engine). I will, of course "optimize" the original parts wherever possible and update consumables such as tires to take advantage of newer and better technologies. The car is currently sporting a worn out set of 165/60r15 tires that look like they belong on a VW beetle or something. This may or may not be correct for this car, but it certainly seems "under shod" for its intended purpose.
Again, thanks for any help that anyone can give and I will keep the board advised of my progress! Pictures to follow as soon as possible!

Jim,

I'm running 7jx15 Fuchs (aftermarket copies), no rolled fenders and I don't know what the camber settings are. Nothing ever rubs and everyting looks to be "stock" on the front and rear suspension.
