911SC windshield trim

Anyone have any tips on re-installing this? This does not appear to be a job for the short tempered, , in fact it seems impossible.

I put new w/s rubber in myself last night, (thanks Tyson for the tip, worked like a charm), I took some pics for a possible tech article if one does not already exist. Took a lot of prep work on the body to clean it up, hopefully solved my leaks. TIA everyone!

The window trim should have been set into the new seal with the glass and then roped or corded onto the window flange of the car. I'm not sure how to get it back in afterwards

You can't. Has to go in before the window is re-installed. Sorry for the bad news, but sounds like you will need to remove the window. Think of it as practice!

Pay someone else to do it. Not worth my time for the frustration.

Of course, I had it done in Tijuana....

Porsche Crest Rear windshield seal

The rear windshield seal has been superceeded by a newer design that does not have the defroster wire holes drilled and wires fed through. I have the two-stage defroster that has 4 wires running through the seal. I found that out when I ordered and received mine.

Try to keep the old seal intact to use to retrace the defroster wires into the new seal.

On the left is the old seal, on the right the new seal. I spliced my wiring connections for the defroster instead of pulling the mess from the back of the car.

Trace the defrost wires around to where they exit around the seal, set the glass back into the seal connecting each wire, install all of the metal trim around the perimeter before roping or cording the assembly back onto the car

I used a factory seal, purchased from Pelican Parts. FWIW, they seem to sell only OEM parts unless stated differently.

I cannot imagine using an aftermarket part in this instance, it is too important, (sealing against moisture/noise), and how much could you save? The factory one fits perfectly, it's made for the car.
