Chain Tensioner
Can I tell if I have a chain tensioner issue w the car at idle on start up? or must it be at higher RPMs? I may be a little paranoid but I thought I heard a slight rattle yesterday (chain dragging noise) and I am not sure what it was if anything.
BTW - are there know issues w the 3.2 motors and tensioners. Thanks Chris

I had a hydraulic chain tensioner fail so it does happen. It's pretty rare though.

My understanding is that the chain noise is most likely at low RPM.

Hey Chris,
I had a similar problem with my 86. I thought I had a chain rattle and even had a mechanic tell me he thought it was the chain. Come to find out it was my right rear shock. They had never been changed and it was so bad it rattled. It may not be your problem but it is probably worth checking out anyway. good luck

mine was most obvious when the engine was going from a higher RPM to idle, or de-accelerating. It would rattle like crazy, like a bunch of marbles was in there. Was not obvious to me at idle.
