next up the cost spectrum, Yoko AVS ES100s. There have been some talk of inconsistent quality with the Kumhos. Mine were fine though.

Hey Keith, I just bought a set of Continentals in the N-1 (Porsche OE) config. They were not too expensive from tire rack and I really like them. I will have to come to a meeting and show them to you. Brian

Perhaps Brigestone RE-750's. Big improvement over RE-730's. Excellent ratings from Tire Rack and at a very reasonable price. I was able to get a set from Discount Tires for less than Tire Rack.

Keith,

They have great traction on wet and dry pavement and are quiet. They aren't recommended for snow, but I store my car in the winter, so that's not a factor for me. I have done some "spirited" driving this summer in the twisties and the car holds to the road like no other car I've ever driven!

The more miles I put in my ES100's the more they impress me. Cost being a factor.... best bang for the buck, good wearing, good performing
perfect balance between the two.

I had Kumho 712s on my 911, and I have Yoko ES100s on my Boxster. I was happy with both brands, but I would have to give the nod to the Yokos - not a lot better than the Kumhos, but better.

Firestone Firehawks SZ50 EP, hands down. Beats Yoko's in every category, 20% better on tread wear rating. Check out comparisons at Tire Rack. Maybe a bit more in price, but tires are not where you want to skimp.

i just laced up a set of the kuhmo mx's on saturday and mountain drove yesterday. WOW! compared to the yoko avs intermed that came off they were top notch. a bit more $ than some mentioned above, but you figure when its said and done it ends up about $25 more a corner. money well spent.

Not cheap, but I also think that the SP9000 is a great street tire. Wear is minimal, noise is minimal, stick in all weather is very good. A track tire in the vein of MPSCs its not. But for the street a very good choice.

Not to be persistent, but go to tire rack and compare all of the tires mentioned above. Firehawks win in all categories. Really, try it.

Why not get the Yoko Avid A4? I've heard pretty good things about them (wear and traction) and they are cheaper than the ES100's.

Also, the Avid A4's are all weather whereas the ES100's are summer only...
