I've read a bunch of info about undercoating and the product of choice seems to be "Wurth SKS Stone Guard". The preferred method of application seems to be using the "Gun" made just for the product. Screw the "Gun" on top of a container of "Wurth SKS Stone Guard" and shoot! All this sounds perfect for what I want to do except:
Where in the heck does a rookie Pelican buy the stuff???? Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Wow, I'm surprised Pelican doesn't offer this in their Online catalog. Give them a call @ 888-280-7799.
Regarding the gun...this will work fine for $6.99: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=43761

Yes, that HF gun will work nicely. But, make sure you have a way to regulate air pressure. The schultz will come out of the gun like gangbusters at a high pressure. You can hardly move the gun around fast enough. Schultz will run just like paint if you overdo it.

Rick,
I looked at PelicanParts' on-line catalog, and they show Wurth products as being under construction. I think what a lot of us would like to know is how do we get from a LOCAL supplier, not a mail-order house. I have looked at Wurth's WebSite, but they don't list local distributors. I have often driven past Wurth's main distribution center near the Orlando, Florida Airport, but short of calling them, there ought to be a listing of local distributors or retailers, but I don't think there is one.

Andras,
Wurth doesn't retail their products like others. Only thru commercial customers or a few specialty shops. Here in NJ there's the Wurth headquarters in Ramsey or Car Care Onlines storefront. Other than that there may be a couple of places but not many. You're best off contacting Wurth and asking them. I'd guess there are many areas with no local Wurth presence.

Check at your local DuPont or PPG paint store. I this stuff on my restoration and it came out perfect. I used the Wurth spritzenpistol or what ever it is called to do the application. It is a very sophistcated spray gun that has adjustment for 1) fluid delivery 2)atomization 3)spray pattern and 4) overall pressure. I needed all these to get it RIGHT. If you are using the cheapo harbor freight gun you might as well get some SEM or 3M in an aresol can and save some money and headache.

That gun in the picture is NOT the one I used. I think the cost was about $300.

I used the $60.00 gun in the picture. It worked great. Very little mess and it looks just like the factory did it.

I have two Wurth guns and both are nearly identical to the one pictured above. Worked perfectly.
Frankly I'd use the Harbor Freight one if I had to do again.

Yea, I'd like to hear someone who has used the Harbor freight gun give us some commentary. Other guns will get the product on just as well I think, They may be a little or a lot more messy, I don't know.
Zeke used a gun he got from an old sandblaster and it worked great from what i could see, but he said it was a mess. That gun above shot the stuff right where I wanted it to go with almost no waste or splatter.

The gun from HF is designed to shoot 3M undercoat. I wouldn't compare it to an old sandblasting gun.

Let's cut to the chase..................
The original question was "where to get Wurth?" The answer is you can order it direct from the Wurth Distribution Center in Orlando or any of the opther Distribution Centers around the country; their prices are retail, yet cheaper than any paint store in West Palm Beach. But they will add sales tax, and shipping, whereas the paint store will add only sales tax to the higher price. Perhaps a wash in your neck of the woods. Hope this helps!!!!

Andras,
Are you implying that Craig is incapable of coming to that conclusion?

Hey Rick
Would you consider the Wurth to be comparable to the 3M as far as the gun is concerned? I guess if I can buy the 6.99 gun and it will do the same as the 60.00 gun, well then. I'd like to hear from someone who has actually used the HF gun to shoot Wurth SKS Stone Guard. BTW, thanks to all for the useful info. Certainly, my original question has been so very thoroughly answeered. Thank you all!!

Craig,
I'll do one better. I'll send you one of my Wurth guns and you can compare. The toughest part will be cleaning an extra gun and shipping back...I'll include shipping lables to make return easier. Oh yes...you can take pics and post your impression here as well.
