Should we wave at corvettes?

Hello,

We tend to wave at other porsche drivers as we zoom along the roads (althrough waving at boxter driver is somehow a question)...

We also tend to wave at other eclectic car drivers (british cars, german cars...), but should we wave at corvette drivers? should we limit ourselves to pre 82 corvettes?

regards, cyrille

Pourquoi se limiter? (why limit yourself?)
The only limit is the electronic rev limiter! or ...the sky!

(it's your sore arm, at the end of the day!)

Seems like every time I am near a Corvette at a stoplight, they want to race. Pretty blatant! Sometimes with a police car obviously at the very next corner. Personally can't afford the fine. What is up with that? I am afraid that waving would just encorage them.

I wave at any car I enjoy seeing, or anyone who waves at me.

I'm not a hippie by any means, but there are not enough friendly people in the world.

I've waved at about a dozen Boxter drivers--no response? What gives? Are they the Porsche elite or something?

I would certainly wave back. I have been surprised to get a couple of waves from Harley riders. I guess it's an air cooled thing or something.
BTW, I think the new body style of the 'vettes looks extremely cool. They aren't doing too badly on some race tracks around the world either.

Now when I was a kid my dad had a Targa and when we would see another Porsche we would flash the lights. Is this still the thing? And of course he didn't flash his lights at a vette!! Now waving that's entirely different :-)

Generally in a 911 we flash, sometimes wave. I agree with Matt C, wave at anyone that waves at you, it's just polite.

On the subject of boxsters, I was sitting at a light once and a guy in a boxster coming out of a parking lot on the opposite side of the road, behind me, going the other direction, honked and waited until I saw him to pull out. I think the boxster people who don't wave just don't know.

I wave at anyone who waves at me. Usually it the Harley folks, but I've received waves from British car owners as well as Ferrari owners, but so far no Boxster or late model Porsche of any kind has waved to me.

You'll have to pry my hand from my cold dead...um...hand before I wave at one.

Actually I'm waiting for the MikeZ "Art of Waving" class. I hear it's a good one...

I think that most Boxster owners just don't get it. But then it is an entry level car. They seem to wear the car like it a Rolex watch or fur coat. When I wave at them and they just give me that " I'm so cool" look I just shake my head and move on. They obviously don't have a clue. Probably a Tiptronic to boot. I really don't care. Anybody with an appreciation of autos usually waves as do I. Vette owners....well I guess...if they wave first!

Last year while on my Harley, at a stop sign, a guy in a brand new Bentley Convertible (of the $400k variety) pulls up next to me. We look at each other and he says "Wow, beautiful bike". I replied with "Wanna trade?". We both had a good chuckle.

I’d be disappointed if it didn’t!

Ah, the old slam the Boxster thread. 2 out of 5 so far have missplelled 'Boxster.'

I've got 2 street legal cars to choose from (the 914 is not for the street) and I get about the same amount of reaction either way. I always look for eye contact and respond accordingly whether it's a Corvette or a Cavalier. I try to initiate a wave with 911s, but half the time they are focused on something else. which might not be a bad thing here in SoCal. You gotta watch the cars around you intensely, much less surveying the horizon for Porsches. On the open road, it's different. And if you get winked at these days, do you wonder if it's a speed trap warning or just a friendly flash? Down South (AL), it's a toss up. The wave may be dying.
