Anybody use Elgin Cams for a regrind?

A friend suggested Elgin cams might be a good place to have cams reground. I would like to regrind mine into something close to a 20/21 profile. Has anyone used Elgin for something like this?

Thanks.

The 20/21 is a WebCams proprietary grind. I believe Elgin offers one called SC330 for the SC. A couple of guys on here might have gone with that grind.

Elgin reground my SC cams to 964. Good price and quick turnaround.

You may want to dig through the archives, an Elgin equivalent to the 20/21 grind has come up before. I think their "Super C2" is close.

Tom: can you disclose the price they charged for the regrind?

Thanks.

Elgin is well known in the cam grinding business. 3 miles from my house. Shop is clean and professional. Mr. Elgin still works there so that is a good sign.

On a 3.2, they did a 964 grind. No problems, quick turn around.

Actually, it's about right. EBS charges about the same, To me Web's price sounds like Bill McKinney in Deliverance.

I have the SC 330 grind cams, (Elgin), in my '82 SC motor w/ SSIs. I love them, but can't compare to other grinds since I haven't had them. Feels pretty close to stock, (in a good way), but motor makes great power for what it is. Every knowledgable person who has driven it thinks that the motor is *nipples*.

I bought the cams from Dave Bouzaglou @ TRE Motorsports, he had them in his 914-6 w/ 3.0 motor, them switched to either 964 or 20/21 grind. He may be the only person who can give a direct comparison, but only if he did not do anything else to the motor when he switched them. (I don't remember).

Anyhow......, Elgin has a sterling rep as a cam grinder and profile creator, don't want to start anything so I will just say that my extremely well respected Porsche engine machine shop prefers Elgin cams to the others.
