Vara at Willowsprings

Does anybody have a scheduele for Sunday's events?

I want to go up there, but I have to leave early for a prior engagement.

I just want to see if it's worth my time, if I have to leave early. I PM'd Vintageracer, but I suspect he's already up there or loading up.

Anyone?

Really? Nobody knows anyone, that's buddies with somebody that knows a guy who races for Vara and would have a schedule?

In the ever eloquent words of Andy Sipawitz, "I'm lookin' for someone to reach out."

Try www.vararacing.com . There is a link on the homepage. My dad and I will not be there, but my cousin J.P. Plavan will. Have fun

Chad (Cool name!),
Yea, I've tried that link, but it just has the dates. I was hoping somebody would have a schedule of the actual times. Usually the POC guys have that for their events, so I was assuming VARA does, too. Otherwise who would know what's going on!

How come you guys aren't going? Is that your car in your avatar? I've seen it (you) before if it is. Way cool.

It's there. It is not on the left menu bar. It's under the Ford emblem in the center of the page (Event Schedule and Info). Click on that then goto race schedule. The Porsche's are group 6 this weekend (CP class). I think the first practice is at 9:40am

Both my Dad and I are not racing because 1.) I have to work a conference for work in AZ. 2.) Our cars were hit a few races back (by the same stupid driver on the same lap!) and needed to save some cash to fix them.

My cousin and everyone else will be there. Feel free to talk with Mark Scott (vintage911racer) or my cousin J.P. Plavan. My Uncle should be there also. He is almost done with his new 911 Racecar. His will debute next Feb. Then there will be 4 Plavan's racing our 911's out on the track at the same time. THAT SHOULD BE OUTLAWED

Thanks Chad! I found it.

Hope to see you at the next one. Yea, I remember reading your thread about being hit. Didn't look too bad. Well, at least it looked very raceable.

Hi Chad, You and your dad should keep several cars between you. Why? The same reason a CEO can't be on the same plane as the company president. Something happens..............your'e both out.....

Any hew, I loved that video you posted a while back "1 1/2 laps at Las Vegas" reminded me of Stevie in "Le Mans". Your'e quite a good driver!

As I recall you said the red with white stripes 911 is your dads car, if so what size are his rims and tires?

Keep up the good fun!

Best Regards, Mark

PS If you ever make it to Sears Point let us know. I'll bring some goodies for lunch.

Damn Mark,

You think you have enough cars????? Holy Sh*******TTTT.

Chad, you missed a great race weekend. Alfas blowing up in turn 9. Oil everywhere.. People going off (including me) @ 1:20mph not too much fun. especially when you do it twice.

I got to run in the VROC race. Terry Solomon pulle dout so I got to take over his car today. He qualified last. SO i started 19 and finished 7th. Not to bad considering the cars we were in. Those celicas PUSH like crazy.

I finished 6 in todays race. 3rd in class. I ran a 1:36. Your cousin ran a 1:39. His was doing great.

Minkoff and I had a great race. send him a message and ask him how it was. Lets just say I almost hit him 5 or 6 times. He was protecting his line and his chance at the championship. So I understand completely. Man was his car WIDE. (great driving Minkoff) I owwe you one now...

Talk to you later chad.

Hey Chili,

It was great to see meet you at Willow. Thanks for coming out. Hope to see you at more events.

Mark

Looks Familiar Jack. Unfortunately, my camera did not work so I have no footage of it. I guess that is a good thing.

Great race there Mark! You could have thrown a blanket over Minkhoff's and your car- he never flinched and you really tried. Nice moves too.
who was the guy in the "Bucking Bronco" black 911R replica? his lines and suspension were ALL screwed up!! He really entertained the spectators as to where he may go off next

Thanks Dave. That was a great race. I could not get passed him. His car got real WIDE. Tons of fun though.

The Black car belongs to Joe Desimone. New to VARA this year. Young kid maybe 19. The car had a broken rear sway bar mount so the suspension was not working right. Normally a very consistent driver.

Man I wanted to get Minkoff.

Mark,

I had a great time, but as you know I couldn't stay for the whole event. I ended up leaving when the Formula V's came out. I believe it was the 3rd race.

I took some pics of some of the practice sessions and in the pits. I'll post them for everyone to see, tonight. But, I only have about 20 because my camera was full.

I got a pretty cool shot of your car next to Minkoff's while his car was up on the jackstands. I'll crop it and post it tonight.

Ohh, and for those of you who weren't able to make it, at least you still have your "man parts." Freakin' AAAAAAAAAAAA it was cold! At 7:00 am, their website said it was 28 degrees at the track! WOW!

Chili- I was pitted next to Minkoff as well. You get any pics of my Red #12?

Here is the time sheet from Sunday. Remember- those CP boys turning 1:35s and 1:36s are with 2.0 liter motors!

Yep, I got a pic or two of it. I think you had both doors, the deck lid and the trunk open. Pretty cool shot. I took a pic of the inside too, I think.

Yeah- I was doing all kinds of work on it Sunday before the race so everything was open. I was having a fuel starvation problem after about 4-6 laps when flat out so I was replacing fuel filters, checking the pick-up in the cell, added another pump in the engine compartment and had to run the electrical to it from the switch, etc... It was all open.

Mark and J.P. ,
Did Dr. Carden hit anyone else in the CP race? J.P. told me he ran Longacre off the track in the VROC race. Now Longacre will know what we are talking about... Dr. Carden = unsafe
