Hi All,
I used to have a program which decoded the VIN for BMWs. You would enter the VIN, and it would tell you the engine and option codes, etc. Is there a similar source for Porsches? Thanks, - John |

Post the VIN here, and you can get it all explained. If you're worried about any security issues, substitute XXXX for the last four digits, which are the unique-to-your-actual-car ones.

WP0=Porsche world producer code
AA= turbo 2=? Usually this is a 1 or 0, depending on airbags or not 96=first two digits of type (as in 964) X=Test digit (like a checksum) M=Model Year 1991 S=Manufacturer location (Stuttgart) 4=3rd digit of type (as in 964) 8=The meaning of this digit is different in different years. Is it a slantnose? A cab? XXXX=4-digit serial number
