I am enjoying '72 911S with MFI in Japan. The hand throttle dose not push the motor to more than 2000 rpm, just to 1000 rpm even with its full position. I have checked the adjusting screw through the small hole next to the hand throttle. Yes, there seems to be no problem. Even its full position, the white plastic connected to the hand throttle does not push the adjusting screw well. I have found that there is some play in an accel pedal, the play may be 1 inch. I want to shorten the accel pedal play. But I do not know how to do. Could you give me some ideas. Thank you.

The first place to check are the two sets of pivot bushings ... one at the pedal assembly -- #28, and the other set at the pivot shaft on the driver's side of the transaxle for the bellcrank, #15 in the diagram below:

I agree with Warren that is the first place to start.
Another is the “accelerator cushion” #10 in the diagram. If it has a metal exterior housing, it can have failed internally. Check to see if the throttle rods in and out are connected with no free-play. There is another set of plastic bushings on a bell-crank sorta behind the MFI pump. They are seldom a problem but worth a look. The hinge at the bottom of the accelerator pedal can fail also. Check to see if it has sideways play. Best, Grady
