Wayne: Hey big spender, spend a little time with me...

There are those that go the distance to keep Pelican afloat -

Type 1: The guys that have the knowledge and skill to keep the neophyte rabble informed as to what does or does not happen when they turn the ignition keys in their beloved 911s.

Type 2: The guys that listen to the Type 1's and then open their hearts, minds and wallets and dutifully place huge orders on-line with Pelican.

The Type 1s are well known and recognized on a daily basis. How about some recognition for us lowly Type 2s?

How about some kinda monthly. quarterly or annual award list for the biggest of the big spenders?

Are ya with me or agin' me?

You made your point. To a greater or lesser degree, many here have expressed their willingness to support Pelcan financially as a way of gratitude for the BBS. Does it need to be a competion?

I suspect many folks would not want their Pelican purchases to be public knowledge.

Lord knows when the wife/kids/boss/friends will come across it and say "You spent how much on what?!?".

My wife and I have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy when it comes to parts for the 911 and what they cost!!! She is very understanding and patient with me and my obsessions. I also play the drums, brew my own beer and play with computers and she takes all of this in stride. I'm a very lucky guy!

See I tried that one, but it is difficult when the UPS and/or FedEx truck shows up in the driveway or there are misc packages on the doorstep in the evening.

Now here's the thing. It isn't so much that it's more porsche parts, but rather who's name is on the package.

So, once a month or so order something for her and HER name will be on one of the boxes...

Get 'em shipped at work. Also, set up a dummy account that she will never see and a separate PO box for the bill to come to. Much harder to trace that way. Porsche parts are harder to sneak than other illicit stuff because they're so bulky...

Can you spell "Divorce"?

Typical exchange:

"Honey, What's this $300 from Pelican Parts in California? "

"Er, uh, you remember that thing I told you needed replacing on the P-car? Well, I replaced it and that's the core charge. We'll get it back, don't worry..."

Now all I have to do is to convince Wayne that there should be a core value to below spec brake rotors and plug wire sets....

What makes you think they don't?

When I bought the 911, Wayne ran a check to see "what kind of owner" I would be...

My wife is okay with what I spend on the car. I'm the one who doesn't want to know the total.

Yeah, you're right, I retract my suggestion.

What a stupid idea. Just wait, my next brain wave will be far, far gooder.

I tried to tell my wife I didn't spend anything on Porsche parts. Do you know a good divorce attorney.

Out of the kindness of my heart I will be willing for all P car parts to be sent to my house. Leave your phone number on my e-mail and I'll call you when you can pick them up. I'm in Nova Scotia?

That's very close to the truth. In fact, I ran a check to see what type of buyer you'd be.

I'm not really sure how to respond to the first post, except to say that I have no direct correlation between screen names here on the BBS and purchases made through Pelican. I have no good way of tracking this (other than matching email addresses, which works very poorly).

I provide the BBS and support here for free, in the hopes that people will appreciate and realize that our resources are valuable. Even if the BBS wasn't here, I still believe that people would buy from Pelican as we do have the best site out there, and the most comprehensive selection in our catalog. In reality, only about 20-30% of our daily customers use the BBS - most don't.

I enjoy this community, and what we've developed here. If I had more time, I would want to take it further into an org that would resemble something a little like PCA (with events, shows, poker games, etc.). But alas, I'm a bit out of time right now.

-Wayne
