Going rate for Fuchs 7" and 9"
This looks like a decent auction that has already met reserve with the wheels refinished. I wonder what the final winning bid will be? Even at this current bid, you got to figure its still a good deal. |
Those look gorgeous, and for a large and a half, a set of 7s and 9s refinished by Al Reed is a pretty good deal IMHO.
|
That's about what they are worth.....over that and it's ebay madness again. Interested to see what they finally go for.

Winning bid: $1,715..........kinda high, no?

They sell the wheels still new from porsche. I forgot for how much but I thought they were on the order of a grand for the 9". That said, I'd go 70% of the new price on a restored wheel. The factory piece comes with 0 history brand new ...
And the 7" wheel isn't that hard to find, those should be cheaper. You do the math for the set. George |
If anyone is wonder what they cost new...the 7s and 9s Fuchs on my car cost $750 a piece. Previous owner put them on earlier this year and left me the receipt.

Sonic:
Both the same, 7 and 9? 750 is less than what I have seen the 9" sold for. TIA, George |
New 16 x 9s are available for under $700 each.
Yes, people pay more for used, but don't ask me why. |
I was bidding on those and dropped out at $1650. I'm looking for a set of 16x9's. I talked with Wheel Enhancement and they wanted 750 for the 9's, they would give me 100 each for my 6's, and then charge me 250 each to exchange my 8's for 8's that would match the 9's they sold me. Total out of pocket to make that trade, $1800. I figured the ebay price was fair. I almost went up higher because then I would have had 2 sets of wheels and could have sold one set to offset the ebay cost.
Are Wheel Enhancements wheels new or just refurbished? Anyone know of another place to get wheels? Desperately seeking 9's. |
Other sources: Ernie's Alloys (Usually overpriced. I got my 944 turbo fronts there). 20th street Auto. I got my 9's from them. You have to keep calling and checking. I got them there for $900/both. http://www.wheelcollision.com They sometimes have them in stock. Panorama, occasionally. Salvadge yards are the best bet if you can hit it lucky. PartsHeaven never seems to have them.

I delt with whell enhancement years ago. I took 8 early six's to them in hopes of doing some sort of trade plus cash deal for some 16's. The wheels i took in were perfect, straight and no curb rash. One of the co owners[i wont mention his name] told his help to put them on the spin balancer to check for straightness. He then told me they were all bent and that they were only worth $40.00 each. Im no fool , i didnt like his arogant attitude. I took my wheels home.

Thanks for leads. I'll let you know what I find. There is a solo 9x16 currently on ebay. Maybe I'll get them one at a time. Don't run it up on me!
|
Wheel Enhancements is still able to buy 9" Fuchs from the OEM manufacturer which is still producing them is small production runs. What they offer in trade and buy back is insulting. Patience and frequently checking on the Classified sections of PP or Panorama is a good source.

I am always amazed at what the wheel places offer in trade. I have 2 NEW never been on a car Speedline for Porsche in 10X18, and wanted to trade for 2 8x18 of the same. The guy in GB wanted my new rims plus about 1200$ for the (2) used 8X18 he had...
|
GeorgeK, that guy is probably still trying to get rid of those wheels!
I saw that LA Auto Dismantler for Porsches had a few 9x16s so I put an email in to them to see what they had and what kind of price. |
Last set of 7&9's I bought came with hoosiers mounted
$1000 |
Stoopid question: Does the 9" fit the SC and carrera in the rear, the non turbo look / turbo cars?
Pics anyone? TIA, George 81 SC Coupe |
Yup....but the biggest tires that fit can rub. Best size I have seen is the 8 with a 245/45.....
