Cayenne GT V10

An article in Auto Motor und Sport is reporting that there is US demand for the 612HP GT V10 in the Cayenne and Porsche are considering it. Due to R&D costs and new US legislations about SUV/light trucks, it’s less likely to happen than a 500 HP version of the current Twin-Turbo V8. They mention that Porsche did not confirm, nor deny the possibility of a V10.

Forgive my lack of understanding...

But what would someone do with 500-600+ HP in a SUV? Go very very fast in a straight line?

- Brag at the Country Club. Who else do you think is buying these things? Certainly not geologists, hunters or anyone else who really needs an SUV.

The current Cayenne Turbo has lapped the Nurburgring faster than a 996 ........ handling is not an issue.

great for towing boats, gliders, etc.

If I had the sort of money where I could afford a 911 and a 4x4 Id get one.

Course the next level up would be a real toy...the GT!

cegerer -- Don't confuse my comment about who buys them, with a comment about capabilities (which I did not make).

Randy, I was actually responding to moazam. And I don't belong to a country club, nor do I have a desire to .........

I'm not certain it was faster, but darn close, and handling is definitely not an issue.

Uhh, Curt, you're not in the Michigan Militia are you????

Better camo it up before it finds some of those stray deer hunter bullets. I hear some of 'em shoot at anything white that moves!!!

Gimme a break Mike, you know I couldn't be seen at the country club with a retro stainless steel gun rack. I'm waiting for the bling-bling carbon fiber version!!!

That is some feat to be proud of. Build a SUV that beats its sports car. A double edge sword is't it?

It's times like these when i wish that volkswagen still owned porsche, than maybe they wouldn't have to humiliate themselves with this.

Only 7 production vehicles have lapped the Nurburgring grand prix circuit faster than the Cayenne Turbo. Humiliating? Yes. But not for the Peppervagen!
