Electrical Flow Charts Help

It appears that after changing my Turn Signal Switch yesterday, several of the wires attaching to the Headlight switch have come lose. I also may have reattached one or more to them to the wrong pin/spay.

Searching the archives I was refered to the PP Electical Diagrams. There I can look at either "1965 -" or "1971" model. I can't really read the pinout numbers for the "1965 -" but the "1971" is pretty clear. Am I safe in using the 1971 diagram?

Also, if anyone has a better diagram it would be much appreciated.

Thanks Chuck. Over on Rennlist, I could read the "1965-" chart. Seems that my wiring is closer to the "1971" drawing as found here. I have 2 grey / black wires that attach to 58L and 2 grey / reds that attach to 58R.

Now at least I am back to where I started yesterday: No hi-beams. But I do have a new turnsignal switch, a new relay and all new fuses!

Hal,

The diagram you want is the SL35 on Sherwood Lee's page ... at the bottom of the list. It is a lengthy download for both parts at dialup speeds, but well worth the effort! You can zoom in with Acrobat reader and get a good view of the terminal numbers and designations.

If you use a voltmeter or 12v tester(screwdriver with alligator clip on one side and lightbulb in the screw driver) you should be able to identify the wires. First, i would identify the wires that goes to the components:
Wires that power turn signals(2 at least and at the most 4), then the headlights : wires that power low beams and wires that power high beams), and should have the remaining wires that supply juices to all that, there two types of power wires : the ones that are always ON, regarless of key position and the ones that are only ON with key in RUN position. If you could remember how the turn signals used to be operated : only with key at Run position or at all time, that will be a good start. I know that with diagram, it will be easy but you could start that way if you have to.
Good luck, PHIL.
