What are the differences between them? They both have a 3.6 liter with a G 50, I think. Here in B.C., I see the 964 quite reasonably priced. Why is the 993 so expensive in comparison? Any thoughts?

Harald explained the engine changes a while back and the 964 motor was basically described as a more track worthy engine but would require maintenenace (valve adjst and so on) to stay healthy. The 993 engine is tuned for more power, this was mainly accomplished with the crank and intake mods (Bruce Anderson's book has a great read on the changes) and the maintenance costs are a little lower since the 993 valves do not require adjustment like the 964...and the valves of the 993 are so quiet you can hear the difference. Then the later 993's had the Varioram...more power when it counts! Well that's about the limit to my knowledge base ![]()

Yes engine improvements....blah....blah....
What it really comes down to is the 993 is generally regarded as a great looking car, some think the best of the 911 series. The 964 is generally considered less attractive then both the 993 and the Carrera/SC predecessors. They are both fine cars.

I actually prefer the upright lights of the 964... the 993 lights are too 968-ish...
