Question Removing front bumper help ('86-911)

I need to remove the front bumper on my 86 911. I was wondering if it was pretty straight forward or will I run into any snags. For example is anything like A/C or oil cooler attached to the bumper. I'm guessing that the only thing holding the bumper on is the 'shocks'... (I'm guessing)
Is there any crazy things I need to watch out for. Other than the blinker and driving light wires.
Anyone have any printouts or pictures from shop manuals? My 101 projects doesn't cover stuff like this.

The reason I need to do this is that my turn signals are where the side driving lights are. So when I signal to turn no one in front of me can see that. I feel an accident ready to happen.

Thanks
se

Haey SE:
you say " The reason I need to do this is that my turn signals are where the side driving lights are. So when I signal to turn no one in front of me can see that. I feel an accident ready to happen. "

--what? The turn signals and side marker lights sit alongside one another. The turn signals are forward facing. Are you saying they're missing? If so, you can remove the small panels behind the bumper bellows fairly easily, and see if you can get to your area of concern that way without removing the bumper entirely. However, if you want to remove the bumper, there was a nice article in Excellence magazine within the last year or so that went into good detail about that.

Yes, The turn signals are on the side of the bumper and the driving lights are facing forward. So yes if you are directly in front of me it's not real obvious that I'm turning.
I'm guessing that when the car got repainted they reversed them by accident.

One thing you need to watch out for is headlight washer nozzles. Over time they can become pretty brittle.

Yes that's a great point that I overlooked. That would've been my first mistake. Thanks. I know how brittle stuff gets. When I tried to remove the little screw that holds the signals relector I heard a pop and noticed that the spring for the bulb had broken the housing off. Boy what a b*tch to put that together. The wires are very short and kept coming of the spade connector..
Again Thanks

You can access the wires from underneath and behind the turn signal and side marker lights. There are also 6 or 7 nylon clips that hold the wide rubber bumper strip and plastic track that get brittle with age as well. Good Luck

I am pretty sure you can swap the wires without removing the bumper. Have you tried removing the two light housings? They need to come off (or the wires disconnected before you really take the bumper out in any case.

btw - these housings are attached via 2 8mm nuts that can be accessed from behind / underneath.

I don't see how these two housings can be accidentally "swapped". They're physically different and have different shapes.
What am I missing here ????

It's a bastard to reach those spades in the front, I switched housings / lenses and wished I had just bit it and dropped the bumper. Next time I'll do it that way.
