Front Brake Lock Up

Hello,

I have an 86 930, and just rebuilt the front brakes with new rotors and pagid brake pads. The front brakes are locking up before the back ones, and it's bad if it's wet out. Back brakes are ok. Is there a proportioning valve or could I have done something wrong? The car has 44K miles on it and is perfect otherwise. Thanks!

Do you have different pads on the rear? If so, that might be it

That's what's supposed to happen. It keeps you from spinning every time you threshold brake. The rears are braking, just not as much as the fronts. And that's okay, since most of your braking power *should* come from the front.

First be sure that the rears are working correctly. The fact that you rebuilt the fronts suggests that the backs may need similar attention. Pads need to be the same f/r unless you are correcting some previously existing condition. The rubber brake lines will eventually swell internally causing issues similar to those you have described.

Yes, there is a p/v on an '86 930, it is a 55/46 version and is not very intrusive in action(though earlier 930s worked fine w/o any p/v at all), there is little that can go wrong w/ it.
