Why I buy from Pelican Parts
Simple,
Service. Sure some of the other guys offer some things at lesser prices but I'm always going to get the best quality with Pelican. I've bought parts from other places at what I thought were better prices only to find out that I got what I paid for. I get the best quality not only in merchandise but with service. Thank You Wayne not only for the service, but also for this media in which to make contacts with other Porsche owners with the same passion. Tom

i have ordered a bunch of stuff...my only compliant is the automated email you get after the stuff ships out. one time, only once i was not really thrilled with my purchase. maybe responding to that email was not the best venue, because i never got a response. perhaps i was mistaken, but i thought the purpose of that email was to see if everything was ok.
just my little bit for the powers that be...

well I just need to say that I have only ordered a few times from PP as I have only had the car a few months. I feel I NEED to say that this sight has given me good service with parts. It may not be the cheapest, but it isnt the most expensive either, especially considering the amount PP PAYS BACK TO US in info tech articles and dare I say the damned board you are *****in on!

1980: if you are directing your response to me, dont get your panties all bunched up. any retail business will and should welcome constructive criticism. i am positive, wayne and his group welcome any input from us. he didnt get his business as popular and successful as it is by only doing it "his way or the highway". so get off the soapbox, go out to some retail business and check out all the suggestion boxes out there. everybody is doing it. personally, i like to order from PP via telephone. i typically punch up darren's extension just cause he likes to talk.
and 1980 911sc, if you did not direct your post to me. fuggedaboutit!

I do the same thing. No wonder Darren's phone is always busy.

Hey Rouxzy, post a pic of your car! Mine is the same (rare) color!
I only buy from Pelican, for the reasons above and because of the complete support they offer - FREE!!! I even called for parts once, and Wayne helped me figure out a problem I was having. ![]()

PP has the best service - hands down. Another [think yellow and orange] may have slightly lower prices, but aren't worth the aggravation from after-the-order price changes, poor/incomplete packaging, etc.
Whatever the small price diff, this website way more than makes up for it. todd 86 cpe |

and goat; yup, i get the busy signal too. i bet you hang up and call back rather than get another service dude.

I order from PP because of generally good prices, great service, and I waste a lot of time on their BBS

I order from Pelican beacuse of their web prescence and online catalog. I really like to buy stuff from my desktop wihtout talking to anyone. I also like that if a part I want is out of the ordinary or I screwed up they will call me to get it figured out. Not to mention the bbs system. The bottom line is If I wanted cheaper I wouldnt be into Porsche to start with and his web commerce business model ROCKS!! Lastly, I have a autogrpahed book from the owenr AND and that Crazy Wayne actually seems to be an enthuiast not just a captialist. sorry about the spelling and the ramble

I like the sense that they make when I have ordered any parts.
One time I needed some half shaft gaskets. The "order guy" told me "that he could next day air them." I told him that I didn't need them that quickly, just put them in an envelope and send them first class mail. He did just that. I had them 2 days later and there was no shipping cost. That's using your head. David Duffield |

PP supports this great website that makes owning a Porsche financially viable - and a lot more fun - for me. In turn my purchases support PP.
PP has every part I need, in stock or immediately obtainable, all the time. PP's online catalog is clear, easy to use, and I can find the part I need quickly. PP's phone guys really know their stuff - I can ask "I'm replacing XYZ, what are all the miscellaneous little washers, shims, nuts, pins, etc I will need". PP's pick-pack is accurate, in quite a large number of orders I've only been sent one wrong item, and then they sent the correct one immediately. PP's prices are consistently competitive with, and usually are lower than, other online parts places.

I order from PP because at present the Euro/Dollar exchange rate makes it ecomical to do so. I also use some vendors in Germany, but they do not come near the service pelican provides, its just so much more professional. Where do you get project lists, engine rebuilding wizzards and a great ordering system?

Not all positive...
I've been buying from Pelican for 3 years, now!!
Without boring y'all w/ details here are the positives and minuses from my experience: + BBS + On line catalog is comprehensive and descriptive (most parts have pictures) + Contacting me when an item is out of stock and won't be available for several weeks -- good service. +/- Shipped items are usually correct (I've had two orders where PP shipped the right boxed item, but didn't check the contents of the box first -- both times some pieces were missing or incorrect) - Reading and following "notes" inccluded in my orders -- PP does not seem to read the notes you can attach to an order as I've never had them follow my instructions to upgrade shipping if they can't deliver by X date. - The time to ship an order has grown over the last 3 years. My most recent order to 4 days to ship. I'm glad for Wayne, et al that PP is growing -- it's just sad to see the responsiveness and service slip to mediocre. Will I keep ordering from them... yup. Like others here, I feel the value of this BBS makes up for many of PP failings. Are there better parts sellers out there? Probably not. I do shop around a bit more and have found Vertex has much better prices on rebuilt items -- alternators, brakes, etc. -- so they get some business from me.

When my car died last week, the first people I called were AAA... the second was Pelican Parts.
