Both if you tweak the wastegate. A performance muffler will also go a long ways towards allowing a K27 to work its magic.

Size wise the K26 abd K27 are very similar but the K27 is a larger unit.

I was told that the stainless exhaust (heat exchangers) make a big difference and help the turbo spin up faster. Appearantly, the smog demons won't even know you have a custom exhaust. I think that's a 1g fix. I've found the turbo very fun. It takes a lot of effort to be ready to launch at any given time. I was really concerned when I got it to launch it for a 0-60 run. It has been babied always. My mechanic explained the reputation of the 4 speed tranny and the cv joint use in off road racers, pretty much told me that a few launches out of the hole wouldn't hurt anything. I gave it a shot. I feel kinda guilty doing that to my car, but I had to. About 5k and dropped the clutch. Holy begeezez!!! I finally had to get out of the throttle after about a hundred feet. It's a fun car. Don't know what I'd do with more power, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.

My 2 cents on the mods.

I have an 88 turbo cab and have done most of the bolt on mods (intercooler, k27, 1 bar spring, full B&B). As fun as a stock 930 is, these mods add close to 100 hp and get the turbo spooling roughly 1000 rpms sooner. This takes the car to a whole new level. I also kept all the old parts and the car could be put back to stock (but you never would want to). :D

If you decide to go down this path, Stephen at Imagine seems to be the person most talked about as the expert. Do your homework before you start spending. There are new products coming out all the time. An example would be the k27 highflow. I understand it spools almost as fast as the k27 7200 but can flow as much as a k29.

I would do the mods again in a second. Either way, you have a great car there.

I would assume that you spent between 3-5k on those mods, which if you really got 100hp would be well worth it. I will probably wait to see how the motor is holding up in another 1 or so. It's using about a quart of oil every 1500miles. I think that's pretty good. Which intercooler did you put, and did you have to adios the AC condenser?

Close to 5K sounds about right. I had the car put on a dyno before and after the mods. It really did go from 240 RWHP to 335 RWHP. I kept the A/C. There really is no need to get rid of it. I went with a Garettson intercooler. I don't think they make them anymore. If I was doing it now I would get a Koklen.
