I can't remember if I had problems sourcing a 27mm at the time I did my install, but a relatively inexpensive 1 1/16" from the auto store works as well, and is now in my kit.

Just browsing through this thread because I'm having issues getting my turn signals to work since I installed the steering wheel. The directions are really crap! I used this thread already once to find out that about the plastic ring for the horn and turn signals, the horn works fine but the signals don't work. The only thing that works from the signals is the parking function if the ignition is off and the signal stalk is in the left or right position. so the lights are getting power but they won't flash. have I done something wrong?

Bringing up an old one. I have a new horn button that has two contact pins. Supplier says to use either or. Did that on either. Then or. No workie. When I touch the wire to the steering wheel horn works fine. Stumped on how to make the new horn work. Even tried connecting both to the single wire. Nothing. My button is just like the button on page 1 but with two, not one point on back.

Hmm
When the wire is connected to the tab, is the tab connected to anything in the button that when you press down on it, would seem to press a metal piece into the sides of the wheel?
I don't have my button in front of me, but I want to say that tab linked up to a wire that ran around the edges of the button. when you tap the button the wire connected to the tab hits the edges of the wheel and then it completes the circuit. Hopefully this isn't an obvious answer you already tried.

Figured it out. Very interesting and no instruction on this at all. My button looks like the last pic in post #3 above but has two contacts. Tried every which way to wire. Then, decided to pull on that metal piece on the side that contacts the side of the steering wheel. Well, fully extended it touches the momo hub and not just the steering wheel. Works like a charm on one of the contacts. Horn stays on constant if wired to other contact.
It wouldn't work touching the steering wheel only but did when hitting the hub.

The MOMO Steering Wheel Hub Adapter description says that it may lose cruise control. I do not think this is an issue in G-series cars where the cruise control stalk is below. Can someone comment?

Ok so this is where I lose my intelligence. Please help!! Am I correct that in my ‘86 Carrera I remove the oem wire from the back of the oem wheel and before screwing it into the hub I need to remove the oem connector and somehow attach the larger head the came with the momo hub? Is there no other way to get the horn to work? i.e. use the oem wire and then some how use the momo hub wire as a ground...but I’ve not seen any obvious location to screw the wire that came with the hub any where....any guidance is appreciated...this is the only part of the install that has me confused. Tyvm!!

In my case (same '86) I did not cut any wire/connector. Simply got a spade lug adapter to connect both wires and used electrical insulating tape (or heat-shrink I forgot) around the connection.
I also mounted a spacer (available from Pelican) at the bottom of the new hub, as otherwise the steering wheel rim is very close to the top of the dash.

I do not recall. You have to measure both spade lugs and perhaps fashion a flat connector pad made of copper. Use a caliper and go to a parts store, get something and adapt it. Get some shrink-wrap too.

Great write up ty! I’m curious the change of the spade, is the new spade obtained by cutting off the larger spade size from the wire that came with the MOMO Hub?

Thx for this thread! The install went great, cut the oem wire and slapped on the momo wire, the grounding plate between the wheel and the hub, the tab faces away from the driver but is then the tab is bent towards the horn button so it will make contact when you engage the new horn button. Beyond that easy to do!!

I use the eccentric adaptor with regular adaptor and it not only improves viability for the 350mm protipo but it adds a wee bit of extension as well...great combination effect
