Slant Nose Turbos

What's with all the slant nose Turbos for sale on ebay?

It seems that for the last couple months, at least 50% of the 930s listed are slant noses.

Is there something going in the market these days?

Maybe all of the pimps in L.A. are trading their slant-noses for Cadillac Escalades.......

Hi,
There was a company who made the sheet metal for the conversion, it was called Golden Coachworks in Il. Anybody know of any other suppliers for the fenders and such. Does Porsche have them (I have not looked ).

Many companies made the steel conversion pieces. Most are out of business including Golden Coach works. The factory may be able to provide them but I can assure you the parts will most likely cost more than the car they're going onto.

A google search may provide a supplier of steel parts. Fiberglass parts will be much easier to attain.

Call me crazy, but I like the original slantnoses, I'd love to have a black one lowered on some nice Azev 5-spoke 17s, boxed rockers, the works and dark tint. Looks like a mack daddy car.

As an engineer… I can do without the Mack Daddy crap…. And the tinted windows. I like the look of the slant nose…always did. I’m in New York and you just don’t see them that often.

Out of curiosity… I’m getting the impression that the Slant nose seems to be the look of choice in CA for
the undesirables you have mentioned…. Yes?

I'm from So Cal. Believe it or not, I'm not a pimp and don't prefer slant noses. I prefer the pontoons myself. Take a look.

There is a factory white one some somewhere in my nieghborhood. I think the guy drives it once a year. I talked to him just before I bought mine. That was when I first heard of John Walker, the owner said he had JW go through the engine. The car was mint. A couple months later I saw a Ruf slantnose at the local dealer, somebody traded it in on a new TT. A month later I saw the Ruf again & the fool who bought it put turbo twisties on it.

Very nice… in all respects. I’m surprised that the previous political powers in CA allowed you have such a high powered dangerous vehicle… just kidding… or maybe not.

After riding the Q-10 from JFK to my crash pad for a past job, I couldn't help myself. I used to live in the Indian section of queens with about 30 other pilots in a 4 story house. I didn't know there were any Porsches in queens?

There are few (Boxer’s out the behind), depends what area. I’m in the Astoria area - LGA. Astoria is becoming very West & East European moving toward upscale. Sounds like you’re a Commercial Pilot, I’m in aviation also, I’m Aero Engineer who has been teaching aviation maintenance for the last 7 years. I do auto restoration/ racecar prep (specializing in turbo installations), and machine work as a hobby. Currently I’m on a 917 kick and have been collecting books and such on the beast, I had the pleasure and opportunity to talk to Vick Elford a few months back and buy his personal copy of “917 The Ultimate Weapon”.
