Removing AC bracket from 3.6

As time goes on, I'm less and less inclined to reinstall the AC on my 3.6 transplant. I attempted to remove the AC compressor bracket but gave up after removing the two visible bolts as it was still firmly mounted in place. How does the thing come off???

If your talking about the aluminum braket which is between the cross member and engine there are two more lower nuts behind the muffler. You will need to remove rear sheet metal, muffler, the 4 nuts that hold the cross member on and one of the top studs (to get the bracket out from around the crank pulley). Then cut the part of the bracket off that the compressor mounts to, flush at the same level of the left side of the braket. This is what Timmins did for me.

This will eliminate the part of the bracket that sticks up to the right of the fan shroud. Then re install.

Not all that hard if engine is out...

I can cut it for you on a mill if you'd like. I did Paul's (pbs911), email me if interested.

Thanks guys. Sounds like more of a headache than I intended. Need to do the brake conversion before tackling this. Probably won't be until after the holidays.

Thanks,
