Anyone ever install an Interstate MTP93

I'm replacing my battery with an Interstate and would like some feedback on proper fit. The Interstate website recommends the MTP 93 for an 87 911, but I've heard they're a longer than the OEM battery. I've been told the MTP 91 is a better fit. Has anyone recently used any one of these batteries and if so, how was the fit? TIA

Jesse

I *think* Group size 93 is same as ( ?) 49...the big honkin battery that uses up all the available space. The next-smaller 48/91 uses the mid ( of three) mounting points pre-drilled in most floor areas. That will fit and is very close to the Optima size generally used. If you go this way ( use of normal type battery), use the small vent tube kit and find a way to push this tube through a local opening like near the front/bottom of 3.2's that have rubber drain flaps...to avoid spillage or gasses from venting in the trunk compartent...convneniently above the suspension pivot ( ! ) and just as conveniently spewing fumes RIGHT NEXT TO the fuse box ( ! )

I have the big one in my 87. Its a great battery but it is very heavy, hard to squeeze into the small space, and the terminals are difficult to put on and remove.

I have it in my SC. The same model came out of it 1.5 years ago when I replaced it. But, after replacing two batterys because of damaged cells, I will go with an Optima or Oddyssey(sp), next time.

For a drop-in, no hassle and smaller replacement, the MTP-91 size is the way to go. I have one and it fits just right.

Will look into the vent issue. Forgot about that. Good advice (as always) Wil!
