Austin Update.
As most of you know my four year old nephew has cancer. He is at Rileys childrens hospital for a stem cell transplant. They will be there for two months. The family has written a letter to the local paper to thank everyone for all they have done. Since alot of Pelicans had a hand in helping out I thought I would post the letter here. Since he will be there for so long how about we flood the hospital again with FREE postcards? Here is the link:
https://www.rileyhospital.org/cards/cards.jsp Remember to let him know you are a Pelican! Here is the letter to the paper: Editor, Times-Union: We would like to take an opportunity to thank the community for all the prayers, meals, fund-raisers, and other help given to our family. As many of you know, our 4-year-old son Austin was diagnosed with cancer back in May. Since then, our community of churches, service organizations, friends, the City-County Athletic Complex, local businesses and people we do not know have contributed beyond our expectations. We would like to give a special thanks to our close family and friends who have over abundantly given of their time and resources. And finally, we would not have made it through this time without our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We have seen it with our own eyes that his word is the truth. Isaiah 58:8 Merry Christmas, Andy, Angie, Austin and Drew McCleary

I haven't posted anything in awhile and figured it was time. After everyone on Pelican showed so much support and in some cases sent gifts from as far away as Germany or drove hundreds of miles to participate in fund raisers. I talked to Austin last night on the phone and he sounded really good. We are headed down Friday night to Rileys to see him. Thanks again everyone, for everything.

New update. According to the Docs Austin is doing very well.
Also a fellow Pelican Head (who has asked to remain anynomus) sent Austin a brand new Porsche 911 GT2 remote control car! Austin's dad told me that it definetly wasnt a Wal-Mart car. He said it is so fast they have to wait till everyone is asleep and run it up and down the halls. I will get pics of Austin with the car over the Christmas holiday and post them here.

We went to see Austin on Christmas. He was doing good. They were going to get released but he spiked a fever that night so they are staying awhile longer. But his white blood cell counts are continuing to climb. So it's looking up.
I snapped a picture of Austin with his Pelican member donated remote control GT2. Austins dad cannot recall what became of the passenger side mirror or why the rear spoiler was broken. They will be moving into their apartment soon close to the hospital and then they just have a month before Austin can come home.
