Anyone know about this model 911?

I am away from home on vacation, so don't have acess to e-mail to hear back from the owner.

Did Porsche make a carrera look in 74?

This car looks nice, what do you think it is worth?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2450905421&category=10156

Thanks

Michael

It actually is a Carrera, not just a Carrera look. The '74s had a 2.7 with CIS in the US as I recall, and MFI in the ROW models. They were the first US models with flares and ducktail.
Rich Tillotson from the Suncoast PCA region runs the US Carrera registry for these rare 911s. He also owns a couple in those wild '70s colors.

Nice car. But he refers to the engine as "Euro spec" 2.7. Not sure what that means. A real 1974 Euro Carrera would have MFI (amongst other things!) - same engine as the famous 73RS. This one has CSI. Night & day difference in performance and value.

This seller has BAD feedback, 2 negatives out of 27 total unique. Sure glad he isn't a commercial pilot with those statistics.

you need the VIN. Also, is this being sold by Born2BFast aka a bunch of other monikers? I think they are in south SF.

74 is the most desirable of the middle year cars, but you'd have to see this car in person. The pics aren't very detailed, and it could be a crappy repaint over a rough car.

That's a plain old 911S. The US Carrera coupe (with CIS) series is 9114400001-9114400528. The European coupes (with MFI) run from 9114600001-9114601036. This is from "Original Porsche 911" by Peter Morgan; I couldn't find my copy of Paternie's Red Book.

A darn good looking car, that would make a nice donor for a future 3.6

Looks good, but I'd want to see it up close. I trust those guys about as far as I can throw that car. They're always selling a car that *looks* like a rare model, but ain't, and I could swear this isn't the first time it's been a supposed Carrera.

They call it a 'Carrera look' in the ad, but then go on to say its "very rare" & "#588 of 1349 produced". WTF?? Are they trying to screw someone or just plain stupid? If its not a real Carrera how can it be #588? If they want to rip someone off, why not just say its a "Carrera", not "Carrera look"?

Looking at the seats and engine compartment, and the car overall, looks to me like a shiny resale red paint job, a ducktail and some carrera stripes over what is likely an average car.

No A/C, no Sun Roof, no power windows. Fast and light, just the way I like it. (Sad to say, it's sold. But at least it remains with us on this board.)

These two 74 Carreras from our Region are the real thing:

We have a member with a 75 Carrera also but the car's undergoing restoration currently... it's orange and black, what a beauty!
