What Bilstein did

For those asking what Bilstein did to my bumpstops, here is a pic of before and after. Notice the rear is a different stop altogether. This could easily be done with a saw or lathe

I take it the left side are "before" and the right side are "after"? They both look like different pieces to me, front and rear. Are you saying that Bilstein machined the fronts down but used a different piece for the rears?

Yes, before and after. Bilstein supplied the parts. The fronts actually look the same as my originals, they just look a little different in the picture. The rears are clearly an entirely different piece.

Interesting Paul, looks simple enough. Thanks. One nub is what I cut off my fronts after fitting on the 22 front t bars, and cutting off two sections are what it looks like I'll do to my rears after I fit the 29 t bars on.

This is very interesting to me. I just cut down my rear bump stops as per Smart Racing Products recommends on their website. Their instuctions are almost exactly the opposite of what Bilstein has produced. S.R.P. instructs to cut the first two lobes off the bump stops, place them over the shock shaft so they rest on top of the shock body, & to discard the rest which looks simular to the bump stop that Bilstein sent Paul. Why exactly was this done? Your car, (84toy), looks to be stock ride height. I understand shortening these so that bottoming does not occur, but is that an issue w/ your ride height?

Also, do you have contact info for Bilstein, specifically whomever one talks to about custom valving, etc..? TIA.

I sent my old ones in, with new roll pins & new bump stops for the front I think it came to $260. I didn't get a lifetime warranty, but who cares, at the rate I'm going I'll probable end up with coil overs in a few years.
