Where are all the good deals!

I hear about how it is a buyers market and that 911 prices are at rock bottom, where are the good deals on 911sc or Carrera 3.2

I want a coupe, must be close to stock and extra clean. Please help me, I can only seem to find junk.

Lance

No offense, but didn't you ask this question a few months ago?

What do you consider a "good deal?"

Yes, but work got really busy, and I am on vacation so time to start looking.

A good deal is a nice clean car with history, at a price that I think is fair.

Don't give up. I looked at 26 911s over a period of about 4 months, and paid for PPIs on 9 of them before being satisfied with one that I finally bought. There are good cars out there, but you need to be patient. Remember that prices are negotiable, and if someone has been trying to sell a car for a couple months or more they get more willing to negotiate. How much are you willing to spend?

That is more than enough for a very pristine 3.2L. Keep looking.

get off the bench and into the game. If you are willing to pay the money, there are nice cars to be had. If you are looking for a totally clean car for a bargain price, be prepared to wait a long time. Seems to me like you want it perfect and cheap. Ain't gonna happen, no matter how weak the market gets.

Maybe you could follow WAyne around the Pomona (Sp?) swap meet? He finds "excellent" early 911's there all the time for under $10K

I've seen SoCal911SC's car and know the quality of Brian's work....he's a perfectionist. If you can find a car cleaner, you ought to buy it.

Go to www.ooley-blackburn.com
I got an `87 with 35k miles on it and they recently had a turbo with 12k on it. Very honest and only handle top shelf stuff.

While searching for the past year, I looked at seven G50 Carrera coupes under 20K. Three of them were very nice examples that I passed on only because of color/interior combinations.
Bottom line? They're out there!

Where are all the good deals!

A 'trick' I've used, is to check 'completed' auctions at eBay, etc, that did not meet reserve. Email the seller and find out if it is still for sale and what their reserve price was. Sometimes the reserve was a lot lower then you would have guessed, and they have gotten a real-world check, as to what people will pay for their car. I just bought my '87 this way, and got it for (suppressed) % of the going rate listed in excellence magazine. I think the sellers not getting their reserve price, once or twice gets them into a selling mode.

Have you seen the 1981 911Sc for sale on the rennlist?
Only 57K miles, looks pretty nice for $14,500.
No affiliation, just saw the ad.

I don't know about the other PCA local chapters, but mine always has good deals on cards in the monthly classifieds that are sent to PCA members. The local PCA club is usually a good source for cars, parts, advice, etc...

p.s. I found the one I bought in the PCA Classifieds. I felt a level of confidence and trust that I couldn't have had with an ebay sale. Maybe that's a false sense, but, it worked out very well for me!
