Ultimate Garges Book - anybody else seen it?

I was browsing in the Barnes & Noble last night and came across a book titled "Utimate Garages." Anybody else seen this book yet?

The gist of the book was a photo pictorial of some collector garages across the US. While it was nice I can't see spending $34.95 on it but when it hits the bargain table I might just pick up a copy

Porsche content: one of the garages shown belonged to somebody named Stanley Gold and his garage was basically a tribute to the P-car. He had something like 15 cars in it ranging from a 904 to a 959 and a 356 to a 911 speedster. The garage was also very nicely decorated

I thumbed through it yesterday myself. Lots of fancy garages. But I agree, I'm waiting for it to hit the bargain shelves.

Got it for Christmas...well worth it IMO, has some nice history and stories about how some of the guys came up with the cars that are in their "Ultimate Garages". In a nutshell, there's some decent content to go with the photos.

I, too got it for Christmas. Amazing book! Gives me urges....!

Only mistake so far is mislabling the 906 in the Porsche collector's collection as a 904. Otherwise, major eye candy!

And there was a TV segment awhile back on the same subject. Some very nice 'garages' featured. Watch your guide for a repaet.

Call me Grinch, but:
I thumbed through this as well. This is strictly for the man who has everything. I think I would peruse it in one of those comfy chairs in the B&N while sipping coffee, then put it back on the shelf. I'd rather spend the money on something I can use in my own garage. IMO, right up there with The Kramer's "Coffee Table Book About Coffee Tables."
But bear in mind this is coming from a 50+ guy who jumped for joy when he got 2 Porsche diecast "toys" for Xmas. Perhaps I need to get a life?

Well, I was disappointed when I picked it up and looked through it. A garage to me should be a place to work on your PCars. A true "Ultimate" garage book for me would be huge workshop garages showing detailed layouts of how tools and supplies are organized, work areas, and specialized euipment. If I wasnted to look at a collection of nice cars, I could flip through Excellence at one of thier car show coverages.

A tidbit of gossip:
I believe Stanley Gold is recently of Walt Disney fame; he left with Roy Disney in a corporate feud with chairman Michael Eisner. Despite loss of current job, his collection (and garage) is probably secure from us vultures.

I got it for Xmas from a colleague (b/c I'm building a garagemahal right now). At first, I found it pretty weak - it wasn't really about garages (structure) or about the collection, kind of a diluted mixture of both. Then I found I had to compulsively read the entire thing, and I found it pretty inspirational in how some of these guys owned some great cars - you just have to buy them when you have the chance, and most people are too "careful" to pull the trigger. We've all read the "Lost Opportunities" thread; what if you'd bought and kept two or three of the cars you posted about? You'd probably have a pretty impressive collection too...

I drove down to the local B & N last night to check it out. There computer said they had 2 in stock, but we couldn't find them any where in the store (what a mess).

Saw it in B&N yesterday. Loved it but the only copy on the shelf was obviously the one that all you guys had been thumbing through and spilled coffee on so I ordered one on line. IMO it is a great coffee table book. Absolutely no use to anyone but fun nonetheless.

You might also consider Kira Obolensky's book...Garages, Reinventing the Place we Park. Lots of inspiration here too.
