SC speedo stopped working

Hi Guys.

The speedo has stopped working on the SC. The mileage counter doesn't work either. I gave the connectors a wiggle and still no joy. The gearbox end of the wiring looks like it is ok, but it goes under a cover so I don't want to frig around with that end of it. One thing I did notice is on the back of the speedo there is no wire connected to the number 2 connector. The number 2 character is cast into the back of the speedo next to the connector.

If anyone has any ideas, or can see the back of their speedo, and tell me if anything should be connected please let me know. I believe the earths are good and there are no spare wires hanging around.

Happy new year, Bill.

Bill,

To rule out a failed sensor ... get a multimeter, analog or digital makes no difference. Disconnect the two wires at the transaxle after putting the rear end up on jack stands, then check for eight contact closures (continuity through the magnetic reed switch contacts of the sensor) during exactly one revolution of a rear wheel.

Good luck, and happy new year!

Thanks Warren.

I'll do that.

And all the best for a great 2004
