I am going to be purchasing a 915 gearbox w/ cooler from Harald (if he gets it) and I am wondering what the r/p is in the late model versions. Do they have the 8.31 or a 7.31? Also would the 8.31 allow me better speeds on the autobahn at lower rpm?
Thanks

1974 was the last year that the 915 came with the 7:31. Between the 3.6 conversion and autobahn driving, you would definitely want the 8:31 so you have made the right choice.

8:31 is a much stronger box, and car will be faster, (not quicker), in every gear.
