Is POR + Filler OK?
To make this quick and to the point, is stripping the area around a rust hole, POR 15ing it and reinforcing it with fiberglass, and then putting a POR epoxy body filler over the spot on both sides a decent way to make floorpan repairs? I would then POR the filler, and re-undercoat the underbody. The POR 15 instruction book gave me this idea, I got some to do my back seats and rear floor pans. I'm more concerned about stopping the rust and making a solid patch than appearance, I only have a couple of small holes and it hardly seems major enough to replace the whole front floor pan. Thanks, Matt

I have the POR-15 users guide that came with my order and this is what it says about hole repairs in floor pans. POR-15 suggests using steel reinforcing fabric to repair large holes in the floor pan. Precut the fabric for each hole. If the hole is larger than 1" in diameter cover the hole from the underside with duct tape. The duct tape will prevent the fabric from sagging as it dries and can be easily removed after drying. Brush a coat of POR-15 silver on the topside. lay the precut piece of steel reinforced fabric over the hole and recoat with POR-15. Coat the fabric until it is completely impregnated. But do not allow the POR-15 to puddle. Let dry 4~5 hours Use POR putty to fill small pin holes and cover the fabric patch pieces then cover with chassis coat black. Use POR-15 black for the underside.
I have not done this kind of repair so I can't speak about the quality of the job it does.

This is exactly what I did back in 96 when I started the restoration of my 67 Alfa Romeo Spider. The only rust on the car was on the surface of the floorpans with the 2.5" drainplug holes rotted out. I used a combo of silver POR-15, POR-15 putty, and Bondo brand steel mesh pieces. I ended up sealing up the holes and using a Dremel to cut them back out again. It worked fantastic and saved me big $$$ over cutting and welding new floor pans. From the outside ( bottom of the car ) it looks stock and it's covered up by the insulating panels and rubber mats on the inside. ZERO problems. It's easy, you can do it !

Thanks Dan, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. I only have small floorpan holes, but it'll cost big bucks to weld in new, mainly because then I have to buy a welder. I'm hoping to put that one off for a while, just think of all the fun parts $500 or so can buy.
