I feel stupid!

Put new fuel pump in. Could not get right pressure with engine off and jumping relay. Found that when I turned the key the pressure would go up to the right value any way. Drove the car and then noticed I had a fuel leak. Fixed fuel leak and now car won't start. NOticed I left the terminals on the battery loose so I cleaned them and retightened them. Replaced relay for fuel pump. What I need to know is the brown wire to fuel pump - or +. When some one says the wire is the ground that means it is the -? So the black wire is +? Is there a fuse from the the ignition key that is between the igniton and fuel pump other then the relay on the box in trunk. Is this easly replaced. I'm working by my self so its difficult to do all of the electrical tests my self. right now I think the fuel pump dosen't work when I turn the key all the way. Also when you prime the system which I didn't do the first time and the car strated and ran fine the first time. You lift the plate in air box with key on auxuillary and listen for a buzzing in the injectors, how long does this take?

On a 911, brown is always ground. You should hear the buzzing as soon as you lift the plate.

Okay The starter turns the engine and the car still doesn't start. I still think it isn't getting gas. Is there another fuse inline some where for the fuel pump inconnection with ignition switch?

Don't worry, feeling stupid is not nearly as bad as being stupid, You don't sound stupid, so I think you are probably safe. Good luck with your fuel pump problems.

There is a fuse for the fuel pump in the fuse block in the front trunk space. The plastic cover should tell you which one it is. Take it out and replace it..

Good luck, David
