How do you keep wax off the black parts?
When waxing your Porsche, how do you keep the wax on only the paint and not the other parts? The other parts, such as the black window trim and side mirror trim always end up with small wax "stains". Is there a trick to this? Thanks.

I don't use wax, I use BOM you can put on the rubber and windows. I've been using it for a year now on everything I own.
My little red Porsche shines like new money, it has a deep glossy shine, no swirls, no water spots, and just wipes on with a wet micro fiber cloth and wipes off in seconds. about $29 per Qt. but it will do my Porsche 20 or 30 times. Here's a link: http://www.badtothebom.com/welcome.htm

That blue tape is great--if you do get some wax on the rubber or trim, use a white Eckhard (sp) eraser to get it off. (The wax. Not you.) You can get them at any art store. They work really well.

1. use the Meguairs product for black plastic trim on it before waxing
2. use P21s wax which doesn't leave a white residue

Yea, old school for me too.
As for P21s wax, is that a brand name or a type of wax?

Any high-quality carnauba based waxes will not leave residue or stains on non-painted parts. I like P21S for hand waxing, and Griot's Garage Best of Show for machining, but there are several really good waxes to choose from. Furthermore, there's no reason to avoid getting wax on trim - it will be protected just like the paint. As long as its a good wax you'll never know it's there and you don't have to mask anything off before waxing. But if you intend to use a vinyl or rubber dressing, do that before you wax.

machining?
BTW - I think the Meguairs is #40 Also, Meguiar's NXT wax is good - maybe the best all around wax I've tried.

303 protectant on plastic, rubber, vinyl top and black targa bar.
Wax. No problems. Second coat of wax may start to stick, best to use a second coat of 303 to problems areas before appling a second coat of wax. 303 is not silicone based and will not damage plastics the way Armor All does.
