Early Sport Seat ID Help

Do these look like true early sport seats? I have compared with the few photos I could find online & the shape seems correct.
Apparently they are vinyl on the bolsters w/ some type of fabric on the seat area. Supposedly no rips, but I’m not sure what color this is (claimed to be ‘tan’ but it looks too light). What would you expect to pay for seats in this shape?
Thanks!

ive got the same ones
except mine are black, leather on the seats and the sides are dark grey , not leather, kinda soft but not normal cloth, dunno the name in english for that material

i've never had any other seat in any other car that suited me as much as those...they fit like a glove

just noticed, the head rest and the top of the seat itself are not identical in shape , but the lower half, the hinge and the area where you sit in is identical, don't have a pic..of the lower area

They look like the ones in my '70 T. I can take some more pics from other angles if it would help.

it's similar, but you've got more "bucket" going on

i've been told buy a Porsche garagist, not a dealer, that mine where recaro's

i've just looked on the Recaro website, and one of the current models could be a more modern version of the same breed

svandamme:

Those are factory sport seats, correct for 69 to 73 cars. Seats were made by Recaro, and Recaro also sold the identical seat in the aftermarket (had a Recaro nameplate in the middle of the back).

The color looks like one that was offered in that era.....Have seen a mint original 1969 with what appears to be identical color.

You will need the factory brackets to install into your car! or use the aftermarket ones, and you'll have to saw off the little drop down bars with the holes in them.

Note that the factory mounting brackets are like hens teeth, and bring exorbitant prices!!!

Value of your seats with brackets is minimum of $2,000 in good condition....however...they would want to have that color. Since most people are doing black, they would have to be recovered. If you would sell, expect less than $2K if they wanted to recover.

I'm sure that many folks have found a pair of these for less....however, current full retail market pricing is pretty high for these seats!

by the way....

Headrests for stock and sport seats were identical.... they used two different shapes from 69 to 73. One was called the "D" shape (which you have pictured). The other is called the peanut shape, or oval shape.

Look like '72 or '73 sports seats to me, but I don't recall ever seeing them this white. If the covers are original, maybe from a special order car? Very desirable, but here's a dirty little secret...unless they come with the rails (the slides), they're worthless because they won't mount with the slides that came on standard seat pre '74 911's. Another little secret? Both the standard and sports seats were made by recaro...it's just that the slang during the early years dubbed the sports seats as "recaros". Meaning, if a guy at the '71 Porsche Parade said his 911 had "recaros", he was saying that it had sports seats...today, early 911 phreaks reference them more correctly as "sports" or "standard" seats. (edit) I'm a slow typist...if I'd known Eric was was posting, I wouldn't have bothered..You see, Eric does know Jack...and he knows about early sports seats!

Here's a picture of my Recaro's from a 1971S. They have recently been recovered....the original would be a little bit darker (not much though) and the offical colour is Tan.

I drove a 70S the other day that had a sport seat just on the drivers side and regular for the passenger. The owner said that it was an option to just have the one?

Those look like it. I do remember how tappered the seat bottom and back got were it hindged.
Comfortable seat by the way.

Is it cord in the center? I had a pair that were cord going across the seat and back area, and have seen them in pictures the same way. Vinyl on the sides.
