Por 15 on galvanized steel?

The Por 15 instructions say don't use it on galvanized.

Has anyone gone ahead and used it anyway? Or perhaps by mistake without reading the instructions?

Should I use 95% zinc rich paint instead?

Yeah, well the type on my can is so small I can't even read it. I only know because they sent an instruction sheet.

I was hoping to find someone who screwed up about a year ago! I'll call the manufacturer on Tuesday and post their relpy. They seem to have a lot of restrictions, like you can't shake the product only stir it "like a good martini"!

OK It seems I'm wrong, again. I just re-read their "Instructions for people who don't read directions" and you can use it on galvanized, but...you need to use thier Metal Ready Primer first.

Sorry for wasting the bandwidth!

Judt did the chassis with two coats of POR-15. You do need to use the metal prep first. You can shoot your favorite primer 45 min after the second coat of POR-15. this will allow the primer to bond with POR-15 as it dries. You do not have to use the tri-coat primer they sell. This info is from the POR-15 tech support.

i did use the por topkote and to clearify after i used a wire cup on my grinder to take the inside down to bare metal i used the por metal ready to prep the surface.

for some perspective i had about 70-80 hours in prep and the painting took me about 20 hours. i did 3 coats of the silver and about 4-5 of the white to get the white to cover. if i had did it again i would mask everythign really well and spray as i think it would not take so long to paint.
